Top Local Tips for Assisi

Definiitely worth the trip So many people told us that Assisi was worth only a day (or even just a few hours). We stayed for three nights and probably could have stayed one more. We like to walk and walk and walk and in this town there are plenty of places to walk to and see. Definitely give yourself at least 2 days to see the town. There are wonderful things that you don't want to miss.

the roman history and st. claire's legacy take the time to explore the roman buildings under san rufino. also go to vespers in the at the poor clairs church and listen to the sisters sing.

A Town That Could Change Your Life Assisi is a lovely, peaceful town that provides the opportunity to get in touch with one's spiritual side. Even non-Catholics can appreciate Francis' example of living a life of simplicity and being of service to others. The Basilica of St. Francis is the main attraction and can get very crowded during tourist season. If possible, visit in the morning before the tour groups arrive. In addition, do not neglect the many other worthwhile sites in Assisi, especially the Basilica of one of Italy's other patron saints, St. Clare.
