Top Local Tips for Amalfi

Caution if going to Naples It's not necessarily worth the trip with the exception of the pizza at Da Michele, Via Cesare Sersale 1/3; tel. (081) 553 92 04. Dirty, armed police everywhere. Good deals on clothing. Stay on the main strip and don't stay long. We took the ferry from Sorrento, walked the strip, had pizza and got on the Circumvesuviana train to Pompei.

SITA BUS - ahhhh! sita buses (the public buses to amalfi and other towns) are CRAZY! very crowded, btu inexpensive. be prepared to stand because there mightnot be enough seats.

Visit the Imperial Villa Jovis on Capri If you would like to burn off some of the calories you're adding on vacation, hike up to the Imperial Villa Jovis. While the ruins are nice, the walk through the village is really the most interesting part (look out for the Garden with little statues of all the seven dwarves). Beware, it's about a kilometer and a half hike pretty much all up hill to get there.
