Top Local Tips for Amalfi

Walk to old paper mills The valley above Amalfi has old abandoned paper mills to explore. It is a steep walk in beautiful green countryside and terraced farms. If you plan ahead and start early you can walk to the next town and catch a bus back. Wear good strong shoes. The path is hard and rocky. A great day. Visit the paper mill museum in Amalfi too.

Public buses Best way to get around. Do not recommend driving

SITA buses I say this...No taxis (very expensive here) and do not attempt to drive here unless you are a pro at driving in Italy and understand the way to drive here. I don't care where in the US you are from (NYC, Miami, LA, Atlanta) but driving here is a challenge and you will likely not make friends on the road. use the SITA buses since they are cheap and go everywhere. If they do not, do the european thing and walk.
