Top Local Tips for Alghero

the weather can get extremely hot july/august and a little busier visit either side of these months and whilst the weather is gorgeous you can find idyllic beaches & coves with no crowds at all.

Car Rental You really need to hire a car to explore the island and it is much cheaper to book in the UK and pick/drop off at the airport. Plus this saves on taxi fares. Although if you prefer to get the bus, make sure you have change when you arrive at the airport - tickets are issued from a machine which only accepts coins and no one is willing to give you change at the airport. Plus you are unable to buy a ticket on the bus. Great value though - cost around 80 cents !

Hire a car, don't use taxis. Taxis in Sardinia are astonishingly expensive - they make London black cabs look like subsidised social workers. A 5 minute/5km journey is likely to cost 15€ - 20€. So, if you intend to move around at all, hire the car straight from the airport.
