We had a fantastic stay at The Harbour Mill Westport over St Patricks weekend this year. It was the most amazing place ever. We had a beautiful 2 bedroomed suite overlooking the harbour with 2 bathrooms and our own kitchen/dining & livingroom it was very spacious & luxurious and so much better than a basic hotel bedroom. The staff on reception were so nice and helpfull they booked taxis and some great restaurants for us during our stay we also got to drive around to see the beautiful scenery We will be returning & if you are going to Westport this is the place to stay. Reasonable prices too!!!

Top Local Tips for Westport

The Towers Bar & Restaurant We had a fabulous meal - If I remember correctly my wife had deep fried brie followed by a seafood medley for main course. I had a seafood chowder followed by a wonderful steak stuffed with prawns. The restaurant is newly opened (only a few weeks ago during May 2007) and is well worth a visit as it's well priced for the quality of the food and most of the ingredients are sourced locally. Yum.

taxi charges varied; matt malloys ask before hand...had a difference of 1 or 2 euros for same length drive. But one guy drove me to bus station on other side of town for a low 5 euros (and he even carried my bags!) and wouldn't take a tip. My brother and his bride rented out the back room of matt malloy's for a private party. They hired a few guys to play music. People from the bar kept wandering back, so unfortunately I had to ask them to leave because it was a prime pickpocket location! Plus, we paid for it. Most people were very understanding and nice about it. Otherwise, the front part of the bar was small and full of tourists...not someplay I would want to hang out at without music. Some people pointed me to an italian restaurant across the street, on the second floor. It was good food, and very popular. I got the only table that wasn't reserved. Didn't really do much else downtown
