Terrible Terrible Hotel - Will Never Return

from hillbillyIreland
We booked this hotel back in Feb of this year to for a hen party- we had 30 in our group - upon making the booking in feb we were asked for a deposit of over €1000 ?( for one night's stay BB) this was given and upon check in at the hotel that evening the receptionist demanded a further depost of €300 for security for damages and loses - ( this is after we all paid up front for our night's stay) - the way we were treated was disgracefully - our rooms were dirty, crammed with fold up beds in them, and the all over interior of the hotel is undated! - Two of My friends and I returned back to the hotel around 1am and greeted by a group of older ladies haven a singalong in the lobby area - we sat on the couches haven a drink before heading to bed and the receptionist on duty Gerladine came over an spoke to us in an outrageously bad mannered tone advising us if we didn keep our voices down we would be put out on the street - nothing said to the singalong group - overall this hotel will never be used by any of us again and really left a bad feeling in the way the hotel is run by management and staff, the lift was not working the following morning as someone had vommitted the night before and this had not been cleaned or addressed before the guests were going down for breakfast - All in all i will never return to hotel again -

Bad Experience

from GMAJ_7
Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Westport Inn and we will never go back there again. The rooms were freezing and the blankets were old and used. There was only one clean sheet. The underground car park is a disgrace it is supposed to fit 25 cars I dont know how 5 cars fit in it. It is so tight that my boyfriend broke his wing mirror trying to get out the next day. Another car had broken down in the car park and it was half blocking the exit. I called a staff member over to explain what had happened she wasn't interested. She said 'bear with me for a second'. She never came back over to us. Then the men who was in the broken down car came over to her and asked for jump leads she went out of her way to help them and laughed and joked with them while my boyfriend was trying to fix his mirror. These men were the workers fixing the leaked roof that happened that night buckets were everywhere around the reception and lobby area. The only good comment I have was that the receptionist and the breakfast manager Karin were very nice.

Pleasant short stay

from delDublin
We stayed in the Westport Inn for one night as we were attending a wedding in another hotel. We found the receptionist Mags to be extremely accomodating and helpful. We got a very good rate with ebookers for €86.00 for the two of us. The breakfast was lovely and its location is excellent. We thought it was very good value for money and would have no hesitation in staying again. Our only complaint would be about the parking facilities. They underground parking is very cramped and not sufficient at all. We were very lucky when we were checking out that most of the cars had already vacated or we could have been there a while.

Noise Noise Noise !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

from emondo40
The hotel was a bit dated the staff ok the room not properly cleaned found a bag of rubbish in under the sofabed, the room was on the third floor and very noisy from the disco, the guest returning to the hotel late at night had no regard for other patrons banging doors and shouting to each other, there wa even a argument where the guards were giong to get called, we will never stay here again overpriced hotel although the breakfast was lovely and the staff very efficient 340 euros for two nights not worth it had a long drive next day still suffering from lack of sleep

t go back

from catherineCoDerry
Stayed here one night on way to kerry, service was excellent bt the room was really awful. The sheets on bed were manky and dirty, none of the lamps worked, the tv didnt work at all, a chair was used as a locker with a lamp on top of it and the room was soooo small. in comparison to other hotels at same price, it was terrible, i wouldn stay again if it was for nothing, all based on room. Staff were pleasant, wasn't there fault, hotel rooms need redecorated and good cleaning. however location is perfect in centre of westport, plenty of pubs, shops and restaurants.

Good hotel, Avoid rooms near nightclub

from Snowwhite2007
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, Thursday, friday and saturday. The first 2 nights were fine, but on our last night the night club was open and our room was situated above. My huspand and i were exhausted the next day, having had no sleep at all.

Location - was good, we were centeral for shops and attractions.

Car park- Was primitive, it was below ground, tight and very few spaces, very inconvinient.

Staff - Were welcoming and friendly.

Room - Large, clean and basic.

Bar - Meals nice, music not to every-ones taste and did not cater for clientel.

Resteraunt - We only had breakfast and it was fine.

A Great Weekend

from x-leela-x
I've just returned from a weekend at the westport inn and I had a great time. The room is was a little small but we spent most of our time walking around town and seeing the sights so it was fine. The bar was very lively over the weekend with lots of people in during the day for bar food- which was yum!!! I had the most fantasitic seafood chowder and lamb after and the drinks were reasonable compared to the other hotels we went to for a drink. At night the 'craic' was great and the music very good.
The staff were really friendly and the receptionist mags always had a smile on her face, notthing was to much hassel.

Great Deal, Location

from boodlebtl
My sister and I stayed at the Westport Inn for 3 nights (mid-week) in October. Our package included breakfast and dinner. We received such a great deal. The breakfasts were full Irish, yougurt, cereal ect. If you wanted something else (we requested pancakes) they were happy to accomodate with advanced notice. The dinners included starters and desserts too. Delicious!
They were doing some remodeling on the hotel and I thought it was a nice hotel. Our rooms were clean and average sized. The location is right in town so no problem in walking to and from pubs and shopping. The elevator takes you to their free underground car is cramped. Fine if you have a small car (as we did). Do-able with a larger car if you take your time. A friend of ours was also staying there and she had a minivan. She had trouble trying to get out of the car park. A delivery man happened to be there and offered to pull her car out for her. Zip Zip! He had NO problem getting the car out.
The employees were very helpful and fun. The barman...adorable! We look forward to our next visit to the Westport Inn.

Basic and over priced

from grape06
Like most hotels in this area it was spectacularly over priced. The bathroom was clean although the bedding was a bit suspect. The room in general was very small and crammed with pine furniture and a strange smell.

Don't expect to sleep much. It is on a busy road with a nightclub below. If you are on the top floor you will have to contend with a strange noise in the ceiling, plumbing I presume.

The staff in general were reasonably friendly. Although on arrival at 12pm we were told there was absolutely no change of getting a room before 4pm.

Breakfast was quite good.

Be careful where and how you park in the car park, you may be blocked in by other cars.

Reasonable hotel but avoid rooms near nightclub

from Superleeds
Stayed here for a couple of nights in June as part of a tour around the west of Ireland. Be careful not to get a room near the nightclub if staying Friday/Saturday when the nightclub is open.

Location - excellent, right in the heart of Westport

Parking - small car park under hotel that is very difficult to negotiate even in a small car. Only about 10 spaces in all so you may have to pay to park in the pay car park which is just across the road.

Staff/Reception - the reception is bright and welcoming and the staff were very friendly.

Room - the room we had was a decent size and very clean and tidy. Had to put a case behind the door to stop it banging all night as it was quite loose in the frame.

Restaurant - only had breakfast but this was excellent

Bar - The bar is very good and there was live music on the Saturday and Sunday we were there.
