In our 2 week experience in ireland, the Irish are extremely hospitable people - personable, attentive, professional but not pretentious. The Athenaeum House hotel is the exception. Without a doubt the worst service experience we had in Ireland. Difficult to find, & with a disrespectful & apathetic reception, the facilities could have been nice but the amenities & service promised for the room were missing - an empty mini-fridge instead of the promised stocked mini-bar, no robes, no slippers, no view... no service. Even the most minor requests or questions were treated with disrespect. VERY disappointing & not worthy of Ireland.
