Stayed in this hotel with a few friends in June 2009. Have stayed a few time before and have always had a good time here. The Hotel is very run down. Could really do with a makeover. Nothing has changed in the hotel from the decor to the restaurant / bar. could do with a bit of modernisation. The Food was of good quality. The rooms we had were very basic. Only fault was the bathroom door did not close properly which was not so pleasant when you are staying with friends for privacy.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Sligo Park Hotel

Great stay in one of new rooms..

from CailinMaith
Stayed in Sligo Park for 1 night in June 2006. Checkin stay were very friendly..confirmed that I wanted a non-smoking room, when I got there it was a smoking room, called reception and they said to wait a few minutes, in about 2 minutes porter was at the door to move us to non-smoking room.

Room was located in the new extension to hotel with view over garden at rear, flat panel tv on wall and duvet not blankets on bed, all in all a lovely room. Noticed in the morning some of the older rooms were aged slightly, don't think I'd be as happy with them.

Had to wait about 15-20 minutes for table at breakfast even though there were free tables in restaurant. Orange juice was undrinkable, had to ask for glasses, bowls, butter...the rest of breakfast was ok. Waiting staff were really friendly but manager and supervisor had no idea of what customer service was.

Would recommend stay here but only if get one of the new rooms.

Decent

from GooseinEngland
From reading past reviews, I guess the hotel has improved somewhat. The room I stayed in was redecorated with modern, comfortable furniture. The bathroom was clean, and the duvets were so nice and fluffy. There was a small internet room with free access--although the line to use the one computer is too long. Breakfast was wonderful and there was plenty of variety. The staff are still rude and the front desk clerks were downright nasty.

cant believe the negative reviews

from drumrushlodge
just back from a family 3 night stay at the sligo park.( room 251)
Were a bit apprehensive after reading some reviews, but were pleasently surprised by what we got!!!!
The reception and check in was good, our family room was excellemnt, spotlessly CLEAN AND WARM.We needed more pillows and towels and the housekeeper was at the door with them before i could put the phone down!!!
We dined on two nights in the restaurant and enjoyed our A La Carte menu and service. We found the staff to be very attentive, even though they were very busy and under a lot of pressure. No matter how hard they tried they just could not please some of the diners in the restaurant, and coming from a catering back ground we know what it is like!!!
Breakfast was good, but could benefit from a few croisants and maybe some potato and soda bread, but otherwise vert tasty!
We found the leisure facilities to be some of the cleanest and most hygenic we have used at any hotel of late and the children especially enjoyed the pool.
We found the price of drinks to be on par with hotels of this standard and the hard worked bar staff done there best to attend to everyone as quickly as possible.
All in all a great break and we will return.

Very Dissapointing

from A TripAdvisor Member
We booked the Sligo Park Hotel (Lee Hotels) for two nights in Fetruary 2006. On arrival the staff were very friendly and co operative and the hotel and our room seemed to be ok . But on inspection the next morning as it was late the night before when we arrived our room was not all it appeared to be.. Our view from our room was a wall with large metal pipes running along it and our bathroom was old and dingy with the door at the bottom slightly rotten. On departure the secretary on te desk was very mean and impatient when my partner went to pay. I never expected to be so annoyed and couldnt believe that any hotel would take money off anyone to stay in a room like that, I was completely disgusted with the place and I myself will not be back.

Surprised by bad reviews

Surprised by the bad reviews, I stayed at this Hotel for 3 days over a weekend and had no issues and found the staff to be polite and courteous. The food was excellent and the room temperature was fine. I would have no hesitation in staying at this hotel again if I am back in Sligo.

Heavenly Weeked at the Sligo Park

We have just returned from a weekend break to the Sligo Park Hotel and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I had read some negative comments on this site before travelling and was somewhat apprehensive. The hotel is warm and inviting, very relaxing. The staff throughout the hotel incredibly efficient, friendly and represent a true Cead Mile Failte.

The rooms were clean and very comfortable and the ambience in the dining room, coupled with wonderful food was a delight.

I cannot wait to return.

Very Poor

from PatOL
Over priced restaurant. Problems with the heating system in the rooms. Several people being over charged. Unhelpful, poorly trained staff at the check out desk. Not customer service oriented.

Most relaxing break in years

from A TripAdvisor Member
I recently returned from the Sligo Park. I live in London and had been told by a friend to travel to Yeats country in Ireland for the most relaxing break. He advised me to try the Sligo Park. Well really what was to follow was the best weekend I have had in ages. From arriving I found the staff to be most friendly. The rooms were spacious and modern. On the first evening I went to the leisure centre and had a swim while my wife had a massage ! We had dinner in the hotel that night and the staff added to the atmoshpere. Most relaxing ! The bar was the cleanest I have been in and again the staff were most friendly. A real taste of Irish hospitality. Breakfast was excellent, after which we traveled around Sligo to see Yeats county. Our hotel room had a view of the magnificant Ben Bulban (I hope I spelt that right). It was my first time in Ireland and I will definetely be returning in the summer time. Thank you so much to the staff of the Sligo park. A real treat.

Great Weekend

from A TripAdvisor Member
Myself and my husband stayed in the Sligo Park Hotel last weekend the 13th and 14th January 2006.

On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and proffesional staff memeber at reception. We were given a room on the third floor overlooking Sligo town and teh impressive Ben Bulben mountain - the room was great with good factilities inclduing a DVD. We had dinner on the first night in the restaurant and were greeted by a warm and friendly restaurant supervisor. The menu was extensive with a nice variety and the food and service very good. On Saturday we toured around the area and visited Strandhill and its lovely beach. On returning to the hotel we enjoyed an hour relaxtion in the well equipped Lesiure Centre before having bar food that evening which was served by a very efficent barman.

Later that evening in the bar there was a one man band playing and the atmosphere was great. We checked out mid morning on Sunday having had a great weekend

Great Hotel!

from M1ty
We stayed in Sligo Park for the week-end of 2nd.-4th.Dec 2005.

Having read the terrible reviews, we did not know what to expect! Now we feel the reviewers must have been in the wrong hotel because our experience was so very different!

From the reception staff to the restaurant staff to leisure centre staff to housekeeping staff, we experienced nothing but friendliness, courtesy, efficiency and great service.

The food was excellent and quite reasonable. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The room was spacious and the bed quite comfortable. The leisure centre was very well equipped, with an excellent pool.

The ultimate test is - would we return? We would be very glad to come again and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends
