The Ballynahinch Castle hotel is the perfect way to experience Connemara. You can start your day with a morning walk through amazing grounds right out your door, then have breakfast fireside downstairs or in your room, & in 15-20 mintues you can drive to Clifden or Roundstone villages for authentic shopping, pubs & traditional music, but you may have to stop for the sheep along the way. We enjoyed our stay at Ballynahinch so much we are already planning another trip so we can bring friends to stay there with us. The staff is great - very welcoming, helpful to any questions or requests & very personable. The rooms and public spaces of the hotel are beautifully done with antiques and details that cannot be replicated. A wonderful experience.

Top Local Tips for Recess
Fishing If you are looking to try Salmon fly fishing when you are there leave your trip until early July. The Irish summer salmon are arriving later each year so best not to go any earlier than July. Rain is required also but you shouldn't have long to wait in Ireland for that!!!
Fishing, Eating out There should be great fishing here but I did not try it out this time but will be going back to try.
Beach Roundstone has a beautiful beach called Dogs bay however dont go during a busy weekend as traffic in the town is chaotic
