nice place

from greenmonstah
We spent one night here upon arrival to Shannon. It made a good starting point for our trip to Ireland. The room was clean and everything worked. The view from our window afforded views of rolling green grounds complete with hares hopping around at daybreak each morning. The staff was extremely friendly and pleasant and the Irish Breakfast in the morning was very good. We were only here one night but would not hesitate to stay again if flying into Shannon.

short break away with kids

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the clare inn hotel for a short break before christmas with our kids and had a great time, the food, service and staff were great and went out of their way to make our stay a brill one. young lady at reception organised our day trips for us and even booked santa at allawee caves for us ( a must). area in general is great for short breaks with so much to offer. found the activities for the kids great and in general were very pleased with the stay - a very family friendly hotel. liked that it is off the main roadway with lots of garden, wood and green areas for kids to play in.

we had a great christmas at clare inn with staff, food and accommodation all very good. Like others i did find some areas outdated but in generall we had an excellent time with the kids. we were on a 2 night package incl. dinners and b'fast and enjoyed all meals very much. kids loved kids club & activitie and we will def be back. great deals & site on internet for hotel.

Stay somewhere else.

I don't know why this place is getting such mixed reviews, but we found it TERRIBLE. We didn't have kids, there were about a dozen of us staying to attend a wedding in Drumoland Castle, and we all had similar opinions: The rooms were unclean, the TV in ours was broken, soundproofing is AWEFUL - onversations can be clearly overheard from other rooms, the breakfast was yuk (it's hard to mess up a fry, but they did) and the ladies who were 'cleaning' the rooms were actually rude. Our room smelled aweful, the sheets were stained (common complaint?) and the bar staff were untrained and rude as well! I'd never go back, and certainly not for the money they're asking. We've stayed all over Ireland, and this is the worst value for money yet.
Give this place a miss!

Only if you are easily pleased!

from AnonEmouse
My experience of this hotel is firstly of having to walk down seemingly endless cold corridors (external doors propped open). The room initially seemed clean but there were childrens crayon marks over the radiatiors, and I found the door hard to shut, as did the many drunks returning in the middle of the night! The bathroom was terrible IE permenant "brown you know what" in the the overflow, a tap that leaked, and fan that didn't work, together with pealing paintwork. I also considered the bar food over priced.
I didn't complain to the hotel because we only stayed one night, but certainly won't go anywhere near it again. I can't appreciate the enthusiasm of other reviewers here, they must have very low expectations.

Not bad

from NFgirl23
Stayed for 2 nights over a weekend stay to attend a wedding in nearby Quin.

Not bad, quick check in and room nice & tidy, loads of towels, room service etc. More geared toward a family with young kids (movies and activities for the kids, swimming pool, arcade...) but with the hot tub, steam room & sauna, not bad for the couples either. The breakfast was buffet and was worth the 10 euro. Nice bar and open reception area at front with comfy chairs. Kind of an older look to the decor but that's what I liked about it, reminds me of the motels we would stay in on family vacations! :) We got a great deal on the internet so it was fine for our needs.

stay at home

from A TripAdvisor Member
Do yourself a favour and stay at home it is a filth dirty kip the food is slop, the out door activitys are a joke, save yourself the drive and waste of money, you will enjoy this hotel if you want to spend the day in the pub and let you kid run wild aroung the hotel, and who ever is the cook in your home is a crap cook, and you don't mind sleeping on stained bedspreads that have not ben cleaned in god knows when.

great for shannon airport

from A TripAdvisor Member
hi,
we stayed at clare inn hotel after arriving back from holidays late at night on ryanair flight from brussels- Rather than face long journey back to mayo. Ideal location off dual carriageway overlooking shannon bay. Got very large room with plenty of space and nice views. Staff very plesant and service excellent. B'fast in morning is well worth it. Full buffet self service and trad. Irish b'fast before making the journey home.
with so many ryanair flight for free (we paid 1 cent each way + taxes) from shannon its the ideal stopover hotel only 10 mins from airport. give it 10 out of 10

A hotel to avoid

from Deise76
Our group of 3 couples stayed overnight 19-20 Aug 2005 at the Clare Inn Hotel just outside Ennis, Co. Clare. The hotel looks OK from the main road, approx 400 yards away, but the close-up experience is unpleasant. The hotel overall is in need of a thorough spring-clean, it appears to be not managed in a professional manner with regard to basic cleanliness and hygiene.
The 3 rooms allocated to us could all have been a lot cleaner - my wife and I asked to be moved as the 1st room offered to us smelled badly and the toilet had not been flushed from previous occupants! The TV in the room we were moved to was broken, controls literally hanging out the front, and the bed linen was stained.
The 2 other couples also had similar problems with room maintenance and cleanliness - broken window frame, large cobwebs on the ceiling. Obviously not 'it happened overnight' issues but the results of long-term neglect and lack of cleaning.

We reported these complaints when checking out - the manager we spoke to did not appear surprised at our comments, and it made us wonder if guests' complaints are routine and regular.
Competent hotel management could not and would not be unaware of the BASIC cleanliness issues at this hotel.
Overall: One to avoid, we will never return to this hotel.
