I don't have much to compare it with, except US hotels, but it was clean and comfortable and the staff and proprietor were friendly (and will close the pub with you sometimes... :) The food in the buffet breakfast was traditional and decent. The one major downside (and this may be common in Ireland, I don't know) is that they turn the heat off to the rooms around 10PM, so that by morning, it's COLD. Seems to me that the middle of the night is when the heat should be on, and off during the day when guests aren't there.
