We were quite disappointed on arrival as we did not realise that the hotel was in the back of beyond. The hotel was clean, but the bathroom smelled strongly of dampness. The smell hit you as you walked into the room. My husband felt that the smell was as a result of the poor and worn seal around the bath. The bathroom door leading into the bedroom was glass and the toilet faced that door which meant a person using the toilet could be seen by anyone sitting on the bed. The whole feel of the hotel was that it might have been modern at one time but was now trapped in a time warp. The room service and the waitresses were pleasant and helpful and the food was ok, but lacked variety. This holiday was booked at the last minute and as such we did not have high expectations which was just as well.

Stayed at the Imperial Hotel Aug 2008. Found hotel to be well looked after, food very good and plentiful, rooms cleaned every day. Staff helpful. Nightly entertainment could have been better(solo singer, irish folk music. Hotel is well situated for touring west coast. Easy distance to Galway, Limirick etc.
Terrible service. Not enough staff

Thought it was closed for the season. Service poor staff brought in from local chinese takeaway. No choice of food. No bar/afternoon tea available during daytime. No lunch available. Staff uninterested when complaining. Evening meal same frozen veg every night. Rooms definitely not up to 3 star standard.

Beware, booked a hotel, ended up in a lodge.
The Lodge is some distance from the hotel (approx 100yds). If it rains you get wet going for meals etc. Not a good idea dressed in Sunday best.

I agree with Amy. Me and Amy both went with our school and other school's exploring Lisdoonvarna we weren't looking forward to staying in the imperial hotel because we saw a picture of it on the internet but when we arrived, we had the time of our life at it!!! The manners are excellent, the maids were really helpful!!

I found my stop at the Imperial, on my coach trip, well worth the money. Clean rooms, serviced daily, good food served fast and with a smile. One of the best hotels I have stayed in.

We went with our daughter's high school band for St. Patrick's parade. The staff met all the needs of a large group with ease and the utmost courtesy! The meals--especially breakfasts--were wonderful. We stayed in newer, more "modern" hotels elsewhere in Ireland, but the Imperial was our favorite! The pub, the peat fire, the tapestry-like carpet--My personal favorite hotel and town in all of Ireland!!
