Historical Traveller Reviews of Radisson Sas Hotel Limerick

Great Great Great

from Errigal
I have just returned home from a long weekend in Limerick - this was totally new to me as we have only gotten local flights from Liverpool available into Shannon, the nearby airport.
I stayed in the Radison along with my partner and our two kids - and thoroughly enjoyed our stay - I read the last review and could not believe we stayed in the same hotel.
It is a very fresh modern hotel - we were there when the weather was fantastic so we sat out in their outer area for our food each night which was fantastic - the staff could not do enough.
It was our little girls birthday and the waiter in the restaurant arranged a small cake for her - without being asked.
The room was huge - great when you have the kids as most hotels tend to have small rooms.

Good location but better places to choose from

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed here and found the room large enough for our family of four. However, the sheets smelled mildewed and the bathroom had tiny bugs in it. Also, none of the phones were able to call locally. When we arrived the staff didn't seem very welcoming. The breakfast was average, but, the dinner menu was overpriced and the staff was in a hurry to clean up for the night. They were wiping down nearby tables with a terrible smelling cleaning detergent. The morning staff was much more considerate and willing to assist. The leisure center staff was nice, however, they limited the amount of time the children could be in the pool. Overall, the hotel was o.k., but I wouldn't stay again. It was very close to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park...a great time can be had there. Check around the area near the Castle and you will find more family friendly accomodations.

Very good hotel

from travelhappy6
We stayed in the hotel in June for a 2 night b+b and 1 dinner. Firstly we were upgraded to a junior suite , whiuch was huge, and secondly the first imp[ression was of very pleasant.
Food was good although if you ask for a medium steak it is rare and I think a rare steak may be extremely rare.
It is outside the city of Limerick so it is quite but it is only a short taxi to town. The gym is good as well.
All in alll a very good hotel complemented by friendly, efficient staff.

Relaxing - Friendly - Radisson

from A TripAdvisor Member
After a long drive I arrived in the Radisson on a Saturday evening to be greeted by very friendly reception staff and was given a large, comfortable and very quiet clean room which I was delighted with. I ate in the bar on the first evening and the food was very tasty and good value for money. I have to say that all staff in the hotel were very very friendly and helpful at all tims and no request was a problem. If you get a chance visit Beth in spa it is well worth it! The food in the restraunt was wonderful. There is a general feeling of calm in the hotel and I have to say it was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable weekends away I have had in long time. I will definitely be returning and the sooner the better.

Lovely 3 days of relaxation

from A TripAdvisor Member
We recently stayed in the Radisson for a 3-day long weekend break and found it hard to find fault with. The location was great - 10 minutes from Limertick city centre but just far enough for peace and quiet. The staff were extremely friendly and obliging, the room was spacious and comfortable and the food in both the bar and restaurant was top class. Breakfast was a huge affair with a great variety of food from the traditional Irish breakfast to vegan fare. When not lounging around, we were able to swim in the pool and enjoyed sauna and steam rooms for afterwards.

Would definitely recommend a visit - we'll doubtless be returning at some stage.

Stick up a new sign and call it a four star

from A TripAdvisor Member
Only if you must, we spent two nights here over Christmas. Although the entrance reception has been redecoratated, the hotel wing we stayed in was quite shabby. Small by four star standards, a hole in the bed covers, several of the tv channels not working, unfinished work in the bathroom.
If you want food, avoid the bar at the hotel, we decided to leave when a staff member argued with us about the freshness of the food!! If you are eating and have a car, go to the Two Mile Inn across the road.

How disappointed I was to see in New Year 2005 in this hotel!

can find better

from BlackeyFamily
Was travelling back from Dublin to Kerry and decided to stay overnight in Limerick and do some shopping the following day. Had checked trip advisor beforehand where the hotel was rated number 9 for placese to stay in Limerick.
Room was nice but water blocked up when having a shower. Leisure centre was closed at 8 p.m. Dinner was good but the resturant layout was open, exposed and located within the entrance lobby. Went for a drink in the bar afterwards. Only about 10 people there at 10.30 on a saturday evening. There was two guys with guitars who were good but they had a speaker system for a room 10 times bigger. Volume was turned up to the last.
Breckfast was poor. Staff were hovering around and would run fom you if they thought you were going to speak to them. Will not go back.

Modern, clean and spacious

from Tincture77
Close to Shannon airport and only a few miles from town. The hotel has free internet access near the lobby. The lobby has several fireplaces and sitting areas. The pool and gym at the hotel are modern and well equiped. FREE parking. Rooms were clean, and the bathrooms were clean and modern.

Great Hotel

Fantasic new hotel. Resturant was wonderful, Pub was good. We had a corner room which was nice and roomy, along with the bathroom. Hotel is out of town but only by about 5 minutes. Would definietly stay here again.

Not up to scratch.

from PaddyBristol
Having seen good reviews here of this hotel I decided to stay there with my two daughters. I was very unimpressed with the leisure facilities and their poor design. They are also very child-unfriendly in that children are excluded mornings and evenings. Some of the reception staff provide a poor service - being more interested in chatting together. I sometimes wondered was I invisible!
The highly professional Irish barman was the only star of a poor experience.

Top Local Tips for Limerick

Go into the City There is a big shopping centre just 5 minutes from the City Centre but we spent the day in the city and you can really find some gems. Check out the Market on a Saturday morning in the city - wow - you could be somewhere in France - loads of different nationality food etc.

Bunratty Castle Wow! These people can really sing! The renaissance dinner and show was great. The food, just mediocre, but the show was wonderful! Got to taste mead. . .

If you like Indian food... Try 'The Last Mogul' (ask the taxi driver to take you there). Then, if you are with someone, walk it off with a stroll down by the riverside.
