When we arrived the receptionist was very rude to the person that was checking in ahead of us. He gave a very bad first impression. I was disappointed with the room. There was a huge stain on the carpet, along with dirty cushions on the bed. Dinner was terrible & the Irish stew obviously wasn't made by an Irish person, I would describe it as greasy water. Although the breakfast did redeem them a bit. Very disappointed with my first stay in a Hilton hotel & it didnt turn out to be the birthday treat I had expected.
Not as good as we hoped

While the staff went out of their way to give us a familiy room as our booking got converted into two seperate rooms for a family of four. the hotel seems to have lots of issues with noisy air conditioning, problems with room service orders, breakfast area shuttdown while guest eating breaksfast and in general lacking an irish atmosphere in the hotel.
Gorgeous hotel!

We arrived late in the afternoon - the hotel was not in our GPS due to the fact that it was brand new (three months). The lobby was elegant, the front desk staff was very courteous and pleasant. We were very pleasantly surprised to find that we were upgraded to a presidential suite - no reason given, just perhaps, because it was available? no additional cost! It was fabulous: very luxurious with a balcony overlooking the river, wonderfully comfortable beds, two bathrooms and flat screen tv.
We used the fitness center on the lower level - lovely pool, friendly staff, and great fitness room. Pools, as elsewhere in Ireland, require swim caps, which must be purchased from desk attendant at the fitness center for about 3 Euro. But everything was very clean and new. We had breakfast as part of our stay, so we went to the restaurant for the buffet breakfast the next morning , which was one of the best we've ever had at any hotel. During a 12 day trip to Ireland, this was the best hotel we stayed at.

Consistent Hilton Quality in Limerick

Stayed at the Hilton Limerick for 5 nights while on business. Upon arrival, was greeted by front desk staff who quickly accomodated my early check-in. Was also upgraded to the Executive floor. Parking was a breeze and free of charge in the parking garage.
The rooms are very spacious and nicely equipped with more storage space than I've ever seen in any hotel. The flat screen TV was a great space saver, desk was large with plenty of room for working, nice selection of coffees and teas. The floor to ceiling windows provided the room with plenty of light and nice views of the castle and River Shannon. Bathroom was nicely lit and had a separate shower and tub. The bed was a pillow top mattress and was extremely comfortable.
Hotel is a quick 20 minutes from the Shannon Airport and is located off N18, on the right, just prior to entering downtown Limerick. Very convenient for those who want to walk into the downtown area - only a one block walk across the River Shannon.
Didn't get the opportunity to eat in the restaurant or sit in the bar. However, I did order room service a couple of times, and while pricey the food was of good quality.
Overall this establishment is very nice. However it is very contemporary in style which some may find feeling cold. The executive floor decor is very dark and in very masculine colors, black hallways, orange and brown furniture decor, at times I did feel like it was a retro 70's style.

Fantastic Hotel Located on the Shannon
from MMO_1969
A fantastic and very well-appointed hotel located right on the Shannon River. A quick walk across the foot bridge and you are in the heart of Limerick. Shopping and restaurants everywhere. St. John's Castle is also viewable from some hotel windows.
The room was very modern and spacious. Bathrooms have both a shower and tub. LCD TVs for viewing local and cable news programs.
Shannon Airport is approx. 40km, which turned out to be around 30min by auto.
Definitely recommended.

Great location and price

We booked 4 rooms in the Hilton from 26th - 31st July. Price was fantastic at 74.50 Euros per room with 1 occupant and 84.50 Euros with 2 occupants. Dinner was included for 2 of the nights as well! I am a gold VIP member and all rooms were allocated on the executive 4th floor with lounge access. They did tell us the lounge was being closed on the 1st August but no-one could come up with a reason why.
Hotel location is great and we had absolutely no problem with the service in the hotel restaurant for breakfast or dinner.
The only problem we had was working out how the air conditioning in the rooms worked. There were no instructions and nothing was obvious from the controls.
Staff were very efficient and courteous. The hotel is only a couple of months old and I am sure going through a few teething problems but I would absolutely recommend it.

Booked into this hotel on the 7 August 2007. Firstly even though it was prepaid through website we were asked for a credit card number on check in. Unfortunately neither myself or my partner had one on us. We were then told they would have to lock the mini bar. I volunteered cash but they declined saying it would be too much trouble to refund it on checking out??
We checked into our room and discovered twin beds, even though obviously we're a couple. I rang reception who told us they'd have a look for a double room and come back to us. We waited half an hour and when i rang reception to tell them it was ok, we'd do without it. They informed us they were very busy and they couldn't get back to us any sooner.
When i was going to bed that night, i discovered that both the duvet and the pillow were made from feathers. I suffer from a allergic reaction to feathers. I rang reception to see if they could even provide me with a synthetic pillow as i could use a blanket they was in the press. We waited half an hour and a man arrived with a hard cushion around 1foot by 1foot in a pillow case. I went to dunnes the next day and bought two pillows, much easier option than trying to get the pillows at reception.
Apart from these issues, the hotel is lovely, very clean and lovely reception and bar. we had bar food one evening and it was very good.
Saying that i wouldn't stay there again. I have two brothers with asthma who wouldnt' be able to stay in a room that had feather duvets. What would have happened if my reaction was this bad?? I can't believe they don't have alternative options.

Would recommend this hotel for any needs. Opened May 2007, staff friendly and attentive, layout superb. Situated on the Shannon. Very secure, quiet and ultra modern.
Food great and impressive coffee bar in-house.
Particularly impressive is the selection of seating/drinking/relaxing/coffee areas, including outside either by the river or more secluded.
Rooms excellent and I would warn that each Hilton can be VERY different from the other.
Only downside, apartments in immediate vicinity but unfinished at present.

Exceeded Expectations

Kudos to the Hilton! I contacted both the absolute hotel (direct competition) and the Hilton and although the Hilton was slightly higher I was so impressed with the reservation staff I decided to give the new hotel a try. I've stayed in many Hiltons around the world and this property exceeded my expectations. The service was impeccable and the spacious rooms were ultramodern with the most comfortable beds. The locations is great considering there are only a few hotel right in the core of the city. The Hilton is located just across the bridge from the main shopping/tourist area of Limerick. I did take a stroll thought the Absolute Hotel and was very happy I chose the Hilton.
Enjoyable Stay But...
from Credimus
I choose this hotel because I am a HHonors gold card holder and therefore expected to avail of it's executive lounge. When checking in I was informed that this lounge was not in use and that it would be opened 'some time in the future'. Bad start. As compensation I was given vouchers for two free drinks per night at the hotel's only bar. This bar has two large televisions which are continually on. I had to ask the waitress to turn down the volume, it was a film about a talking mouse. I noticed that three men at an adjoining table trying to conduct business heaved a sigh of relief. Apart from that I enjoyed my stay, the room was nice and the food was excellent. This hotel definitely has potential.
