Our stay at this hotel was very disapointing expecially the rooms, the one we were allocated had not been decorated for many years, the carpet was threadbare, the wallpaper dated and it smelled musty. We have stayed in many hotels in 2006 both here and abroad but we are sad to say that this came bottom of our list. The one positive was the breakfast which was plentiful and tasty. The service was ok.

Disappointed
from syzygial
Checked in late for a one night stay. Night staff were friendly, hotel looked fine and modern from outside.
Room was spacious, but the bathroom door was warped, partly rotten and then bathroom need some serious updating. Tile grouting was dirty, rust marks on pipes.. generally didn't seem all that clean.
Bed was comfortable.
Decor was fairly dated in this wing of the hotel (Room 119, lower ground floor).
Ate in the impressive hotel bar the next day (a lunch snack). The room is very large but lacks atmosphere and the staff were uninterested and expected you to order food at the counter (which was ages away from our table). The food was appaling. Would never eat their barfood again. Not worth even half the price (all too common to get rubbish food in hotel bars dressed up with salad in this country).
Overall the hotel was a passable 3 star, but the hygeine and dilapidated bathroom put me off. Would use it again purely as a place for sleep if I got a more modern room.

A good functional hotel. The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean. The bar food was good but not exceptional

This hotel was excellent value for money. The room was a good size with all the extras e.g. tea, coffee, toiletries and towels changed every day. The food in the restaurant in the evening was superb. Only downside was the breakfast as it was kept in heated containers and could get a bit overcooked. Only a short walk to the town. Enjoyed our few days very much and would go back to the Mount Errigal if I visited Letterkenny again and would not hesitate to recommend it to my friends and family.

fab hotel

I stayed for my friends wedding in august what a fab hotel on arrival staff and management was very friendly, even on arrival the manger Donal carryed the brides trail as her bridesmaids had scarped for a quick drink. Food was out of this world at the reception and the hotel was so busy and still the service was first class. The bedrooms very clean. This is the fifth time i have been here and is my first pick when i am going for a break every time.
Definatley recommend for a break or to anyone who is thinking of having there wedding reception.

Do Not Stay Here
from BelfastBrian
Stayed here the week before Christmas and can say nothing good about this hotel. This hotel is about 2 miles from the centre of the town and is in the middle of a run down area. There is not even a footpath outside the hotel.
As for the inside, my room was basic, not very comfortable. I ate in the bar and my food was disgusting and the staff totally uninterested in their job and not very friendly.
I won't be back, recommend that you don't go there either.

Fabulous Stay

Got ferry from Scotland. Stayed for 5 days, loved every minute of it. Staff friendly and cheery. Rooms were very clean and warm. Food and service excellent. Well situated near town. Due to bad weather had to stay an extra night which was a result. Would definitely recommend to others as we will return due to friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere.
disappointing

We spent two nights here in July and to say the least we were not impressed. The hotel has obviously had "add ons" over the years that don't tie in very well but that was the least of my problems.
It's about a mile out the town so we had to get a taxi in to town at night and back again. Unfortunately getting a taxi back proved to be a big problem. In the hotel, our rooms were really shoddy and were not really clean. The food in the restaurant was not brilliant and was quite expensive and we didn't find the staff very friendly or helpful either. All in all this was very disappointing and I would not recommend it to anyone.

The Worst Hotel Experience Of My Life.

We decided to spend a long weekend in Letterkenny at the end of August before my husband started back teaching. The journey from Dublin was fine and not long at all so we arrived in good spirits at the Mount Errigal, full of expectation having read some great reviews on Trip Advisor.
The receptionist was unwelcoming and bordering on rude. Our room was small and dark, and the bed linen had not been changed - there were hairs on the sheets and pillows. When we changed rooms we had to move our own luggage and the manager reacted in a hostile manner to our complaint but would not come to the room to see for himself. We had one dinner included in our deal and we found it to be okay but would have expected much better and the service was not good although it was not busy.
The hotel is located about a mile outside the town with no views and although it seems to have been recently renovated, it lacks atmosphere and class.
Take my advice, if you are thinking of going to the Mount Errigal, think again. Don't do it.

Excellent Hotel

We went for a weekends break in July, it was excellent in every way. the rooms were fantastic, so clean and big, the breakfast in the hotel was the best breakfast i have ever tasted in the south of ireland and i have stayed in alot of hotels and b&b's in the south and i have to say the Mount Errigal could not be beat. the atmosphere in the hotel was great, the bars were brilliant and the food and service was just first class. I had service to my room at 6am free of charge and a polite and well mennered member of staff carried out my needs with no bother. The leisure suite was most enjoyable and extremely clean. Hotel is ideal for all ages and genders because it has so much to offer it will please and assist everyone. I def recommend the Mount Errigal for a short or long stay......
Top Local Tips for Letterkenny
good shops There are some very good shops in letterkenny, you are also not far from Ballybofey that has the wonderful shop McIlkennys.
bring plenty of cash lots of lovely shops
Other hotels There are plenty of other hotels around letterkenny that are much better. Don't let the price fool you! If you are going to this hotel make sure to bring a swimming hat otherwise you'll have to buy one there. If your after a nice getaway i'd sooner stay in Remelton or Rathmullan. Even a b&b there would be nicer.
