Location Hotel is situated on the outskirts of the village of Leenane in North County Galway in the Republic of Ireland on the shores of Ireland's only fjord Killary bay. It is an old coaching house but with very modern rooms . Upon arrival, there is ample car parking space ,close to the hotel and the welocme is very hospitable. The decor is an interesting mixture of modern and antique, the centrepiece being a banister and stair case "borrowed" from a French chateau. The wall s are very tasetefully decorated with paintings in very different styles. The room we were allocated was on the second floor , reached by stairs, (no lift there yet probably spoil the ambiemce and themed decor of the hotel), it was spacious with a good sized double bed and all the mod cons : ensuite bathroom, TV, Teamaking facility ,hairdryer etc. In the room was a folder containing all the necessary infornmation about the hotel, it's facilities and the attractions available in the scenic area.Minor quibbles all the information was in English and given the number of other nationalities we encountered in the area and in the hotel it might be worth looking at a more multi lingual approach in the future. Also one or two of the local features advertised in the hotel's folder were no longer on offer ;eg. the opportunity to purchase tickets for the Killary Bay Cruise is no longer available in the hotel. The resident's lounge is large welcoming .spacous room available for people to sit and unwind after a busy day and indeed as a rare haven of quiet and escape from the ubiquitous traditional Irish music on offer in many other hostelries in the area. The cuisine on offer for the luncheons,bar-snacks and evening meals all reflected favourably the wide availability of Fresh local produce and were , to our experience. cooked to perfection. my wife , Phil, is rather fond of seafood and was able to have a different and equally delicious fish dish each night of our three day stay. The meals are served in a pleasantly decorated dining room which had a quiet yet busy ambience about it, the staf fall every eager to ensure all the gueats gastronomic and liquid needs were atteneded to without being overly intrusive . The three night stay cost us 79 euros per person which was for bed and Breakfast and a 5 course Gourmet evening meal and was to us excellent value for money,ina beautiful hotel set in one of Ireland's most relaxing ,picturesque and tourist friendly areas.
