Nice hotel , good location
from irishgirl123
Good location beside the harbour , takes about ten mins to walk into the main part of town.
Hotel was clean , staff friendly. The bathroom was tiny though and there is no fan in it so things like the radiator etc are starting to rust. Comfy bed.
Breakfast in the morning was good.
Carpark a bit on the small side. Gym is also tiny.

Good choice - great water views

170 euro per night, executive twin room, 2 adults, breakfast included
Reserved a second floor executive twin, pleasantly surprised to receive a king bed. Room was soundproof. Classy spotless bath was beige marble with a towel warmer and oversized tub.
This place was our splurge, a water view and it was an absolute treat. Sailboats, fishing boats, seagulls and even a seal kept us entertained. We had a coffee table and two club style chairs and huge windows for viewing all this harbor activity. Décor modern, newly renovated rooms. Windows open. Spotless. Parking plentiful.
Common areas were quiet while we were there. This place felt more geared toward vacationers than other places we stayed. We did not require much of the staff but found all to be pleasant. The reservations desk offered to guide us by phone to the hotel if we got lost, very thoughtful. They had mailed us with a map and that helped avoid the situation. Check in and check out were simple.
Full breakfast was extremely fresh and a great selection. Fresh fish was offered, salmon, plaice, and kippers. Fresh cut fruit was wonderful. The nautical breakfast area with table linens looks out on harbor and was just right for its setting. There were beautiful vases of live flowers throughout the hotel, another nice touch.
Outdoor/indoor pub looked nice, pretty quiet while we passed through it on our walk uptown, 5 minutes along the bay.
Kinsale also buzzes with activity, a fun place. Quality of food in Kinsale is elevated across the board.
Would stay here again, off season when not so expensive.

Waterfront Hotel In a Postcard Village

My family and I stayed at the Trident in July 2006 for two nights. We booked a suite which was overlooking the harbor. The room was very modern, spacious and very comfortable--even had a plasma TV. The bath was quite large with a separate shower and tub. The views from the suite and from the hotel's restaurants were all overlooking the picturesque harbor of Kinsale. The breakfast buffet in the morning was very complete and quite good. We had dinner at the hotel one evening, and I was a trifle disappointed in the food. It wasn't bad, it just didn't live up to my expectations. Kinsale is the "foodie" capital of Ireland with many exceptional restaurants (try Fishy Fishy for Lunch and The Vintage for dinner), but the Savannah Restaurant in the Trident was a notch below the others. Also, the Hotel is at the end of the long Kinsale waterfront, it's a good 10 minute walk back to the center of town--a scenic walk to be sure, but long. Those expecting good WIFI might also be disappointed. Network signal was very weak in our suite, was better downstairs in the lounges, but still hit or miss. Overall, though, our stay was very pleasant and we would definitely like to return to Kinsale, and if we did we would stay at the Trident again.
Perfect!!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Trident, the room was perfect, the food excellent and all the staff were pleasant and helpful at all times. We would have no hesitation in returning and I have already recommended it to friends who are considering visiting the area later in the year.
Wonderful meals!

The Trident was a lovely hotel and I had a great view of the water. The pub was just the place to enjoy a pint and listen to the Irish folk music, but the highlight of my stay there was the food! Excellent food and service at the restaurant with a beautiful view. I really liked Kinsale and the Trident was just the place to stay; a short walk to downtown.
Fantastic Hotel in lovely setting

We have just returned from a short break at the Trident Hotel in Kinsale. What a beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean and modern. Our room was fantastic and what a view overlooking the harbour (we were lucky with the weather so we saw it at its best). We ate in the restaurant two nights out of our three night stay and we could not fault the food, it was first class. The breakfasts were also excellent. If you are looking to spoil yourself in a lovely country, the Trident is well worth a visit.
Incidentally whilst we were there my husband got a tip for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, he backed it and it won! Great place and great people.

BEST Part: The Irish Weavers were there!

My husband and I just returned from a trip with a tour group 2/17/06. We were at the Trident Hotel for one evening and loved the setting of it. Our room had a wonderful view of the harbor and of the sail boats docked. The restaurant had wonderful food and the manager was very friendly.
Our highlight was the Irish Weavers who played at the pub at Trident, what a great setting for traditional irish music!
Would have liked to stay longer, next time will stay there again and in the summer time.

Fantastic setting..thicker walls needed

Just returned from 3 nights at the Trident. I have never stayed in such beautiful settings. The hotel looks amazing. Just make sure you are not in a room where there is someone who snores next door or you will hear every breath from the moment they go to sleep until they wake up!!!! And I have complained to management without a result. Also be careful when they ask for your credit card details. I specifically asked to pay in cash and they tried to debit my credit card on the first day for the whole payment.
Apart from that Cork, Kinsale and its people are amazing

Have just returned from a great weekend break in the idyllic fishing village of Kinsale, staying at the Trident Hotel.
The hotel has recently been refurbished to a high standard belying its 3 official AA star rating.
Friendly, helpful staff made for a very pleasant stay indeed.

Lovely hotel!

We stayed in The Trident in April while the hotel was undergoing construction and we were quite disappointed with our stay at the time. I will not go into the details of our stay but after voicing our issues with a senior staff member we were very fortunate to be invited back to the Trident just last week.
On arrival we were checked in by a very pleasant receptionist who made us feel right at home. We stayed in a beautiful junior suite with a sea view. The suite was very spacious, beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. Also the rooms are very well sound-proofed and we could not hear a thing from the neighbouring rooms or the corridor.
The Wharf Tavern is a great pub for a spot of lunch and a pint of Guinness. Also lovely, friendly staff.
We had a beautiful dinner in the restaurant on our first evening. We ordered from the Al a carte menu having Lemon Sole and Fillet Steak which was mouthwatering! 3 courses with a bottle of wine was just under 100 euro which we thought was excellent value for such a high standard of food.
I honestly can not emphasize enough how much we enjoyed our stay in The Trident. It's great to see that the construction work is now finished as the hotel looks great. For anyone planning a trip to Kinsale I can not recommend this hotel enough. Having stayed in an executive room (which was perfectly fine) and a junior suite I would definitely go that extra little bit and stay in the suite. You will not be disappointed.
Finally we would just like to add a huge thank you to the staff and management of the hotel and we hope to see you again soon
