Historical Traveller Reviews of Ross Hotel
Gorgous hotel
from FelicityCork_IrelandFantastic Ross
from A TripAdvisor MemberRooms are fantastic with a great big bed! Bathroom was also spacious with a window in the party wall which opened the room even more (don't worry there is a blind u can close!)
Dinner was fab, and cocktails in the bar after were a great treat.
The decor in the hotel is, as mentioned very modern and feels rather opulent but wonderful
The staff, from booking, to check in & out, in the restaurant and bar were all a pleasure to deal with, and genuinely made us feel welcomed and a guest.
Would highly recommend this hotel, and thank them for a wonderful stay!
Not bad at all
from baseageWe stayed in the Suite and the room was massive. HUGE one could say. The bed was very comfortable and the dinner was great.
The only disappointment was the sofas in the room. They weren’t very comfortable for the price of the room.
Overall, very impressed
ll be back to this great place
from DeisemanHaving the use of the leisure centre at the 5 star Killarney Park across the road is an addded bonus - I really enjoyed the pool & sauna.
The bar is very trendy, great for a coffee, beer or even a cocktail later on!
We dined saturday night in the Restaurant, excellent - with Breakfast both mornings - pleasant.
Happy to give this Hotel and its great staff the highest recommendation - we will be back
Absolutely Perfect
from Nash81Gorgeous hotel
from ozallensApart from this, the hotel was very good value (we were a walk in and had a discount off the rack rate) and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Marvelous
from Fennvilleflat screen TVs and a remote control fire place.
The restaurant served good food and the lounge attracted a more modern crowd than the rest of the pubs in Killarney. The lounge had more of a martini bar feel and had more of a club crowd, without the loud techno music or dance floor.
The staff were very courteous and helpful. The spa was available in one of their sister hotels that was a short walk across the street. We did not get the opportunity to ultilize those services.
The only negative thing we had to say is that Killarney was unusually
rowdy, since the Rally was being held that weekend and it had a spring break atmosphere. The noise was muffled in the room, and we were able to get a peaceful night's rest, but we could still hear an occassional hot-rod revving its engine for the entire town to hear.
All told, I would recommend staying at this hotel as it was money well spent.
A wonderful hotel
from GomanuThe hotel was simply terrific. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly, helpful, energetic, accommodating and enthusiastic. The food was excellent whether for breakfast or dinner. The decor is modern but tasteful. The rooms were spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The Ross is well located - a hop to stores, restaurants, pubs, close to its sister hotel the Killarney Park with full use of its pool and health club included.
Was there noise during what I now know to be the craziest weekend in Killarney? Some. But turn on the fan, take ear plugs if you feel the need and frankly, the noise level - which would have to have been endured anywhere in Killarney at that time - was simply a non-issue. Once the weekend was done, silence reigned.
The entire group agreed that the Ross was nothing short of perfect. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
We LOVED The Ross!
from davidfoSo Posh!
from bubblepopelectricIt doesn't have a very blatant sign on the exterior so being new to Killarney and after travelling for 2 hours we passed the hotel several times :-D
When we finally arrived the receptionist checked us in to a beautiful room on the 2nd floor. The flowery carpet on the corridor was a bit strange but nice!
The kingsize bed was just enormous! So comfortable.
There was even a DVD player accompanying the flatscreen tv... How cool is that!
The ironing board in the wardrobe was so handy for my boyfriends shirt that night!
I asked the receptionist about going for dinner- she informed me everything in Killarney gets booked out on a Saturday night!! She tried the hotel restaurant but to no avail. She booked us into a lovely little Italian around the corner (us not being willing to walk far after being lazy from the drive from Limerick!!) Lovely food at Cuccina I think it was called! Lovely staff too.
I loved all the mini lotions & shampoos etc in the bathroom at the hotel (my souveniers!!)
When we arrived back at the hotel after the niteclub (probably 2am or later) there was nobody on reception but a night steward opened the door for us.
It was lovely to have slippers & dressing gown in the room and plenty of still & sparkling water too (more in the minibar which we didn't realise til we were nearly checking out!)
That water was a lifesaver the morning after!!!
We got breakfast in the room feeling quite hungover we couldn't eat all we ordered but it was tasty!!!
The little Lir coffee shop a couple of doors down was my fix the next morning.
After that we strolled directly across the road to get a horse and carriage ride through the national park and by the lakes. It was so romantic!
I loved it, but wrap up warm & don't trust the weather!!
Then my boyriend drove to Torc waterfall it was gorgeous... Its worth walking up those extra few steps just to see the view of Killarney...
Nicest weekend of my life.
I'll go back but in future I'll stay in a larger hotel which is easier to find- that's just my preference. The Ross was lovely but we didn't have much time to explore!
Top Local Tips for Killarney
Things To Do! Italian Restaurant called Cuccina (I think!) Right around the corner from The Ross- gorgeous food, romantic atmosphere, friendly staff- we'll return! Go on the horse & carriage ride it's worth it to see Killarney's beauty in 45 mins and you'll learn loads!!! Also see Torc Waterfall... For nightlife we didn't know much about it but try O' Connells if you want to chat in a quiet atmosphere with tin whistles in the background :-) then near Mc Sorley's a hotel had a cool disco bar, Mc Sorley's was ok but I preferred the other place a couple of doors down! Steer well clear of Mustang Sally's- rough crowd and smells of chips!! Left as soon as we walked in!!! Also make sure your boyfriend buys you flowers at the end of the night ;-p
Gap of Dunloe Go to the Gap of Dunloe and take a carriage ride. It is fun and very personal. My new wife and myself went even though it was rainging and it was, in my opinion, the highlight of the trip.
