Just a wonderful place to stay. The views were beautiful, the rooms extremely comfortable but more importantly the proprietors Paul & Annette made our stay a real pleasure. I would highly recommend the Loch Lein House to anyone who will be visiting the Killarney area - you won't be disappointed!

Historical Traveller Reviews of Loch Lein Country House Hotel

Best Experience in Ireland!

from lv2travlChantilly
I am in agreement with all of the wonderful reviews of this hotel. The Loch Lein was the last hotel that we stayed at on a seven hotel trip and it was, by far, the nicest and the most economical. We only stayed there one night but I can't wait to come back and stay longer. We had three rooms, all beautiful and comfortable with lovely views of the lake. The hotel is a mix of country charm but with the most up-to-date amenities. The breakfast was perfect and Paul also gave us some wonderful suggestions for exploring the Ring of Kerry outside of the usual tour throngs. Not that we did not enjoy everything and everybody we encounted in this lovely country, but Loch Lein Country House gave us the best experience of Ireland!

Wonderful hospitality and outstanding accommodation

from JaackeVon
My wife and I travelled to Kerry, Ireland, along with my parents-in-law. Since we got one of those 1p flights on Ryanair, we figured we could splash out a little with our accommodation ;) Having seen some pictures of the Loch Lein Country House Hotel and read the reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to put it on our short list.

We contacted the operators directly and actually got our rooms at a lower rate than what we were expecting. However, when we arrived, we immediately knew we managed to snag a genuine bargain.

Paul and Annette were kind enough to give us two of their best rooms. The rooms were spacious and tastefully decorated, with a firm bed and comfy sofa and lounge chairs. The bathroom had separate shower and bath tub, with dual wash basins no less.

Last but not least was the view from the rooms. While not located right by the Killarney lake, you can nonetheless wake up to a nice view that stretches as far as the eye can see (or as far as the fog lets you!)

Breakfast was plentiful and cooked to order. Travel into Killaryney town centre is less than 7 minutes by car.

Paul also gave us great tips on which sights to see - and when! One of his tips was to drive along the Gap of Dunloe only in the evening, when there are no more jaunting cars (horse drawn carriages) slowing you down. In summer the sun doesn't really set until past ten so you can still see the scenary very well.

If it wasn't for the considerable allure of the Irish countryside we could've simply stayed in our rooms all day - especially when it just wouldn't stop raining.

Wonderful visit

from Miamitraveler_10
The Loch Lein was a wonderful place to stay - just 4 km from Killarney, so away from the traffic and crowds, but not too far to go into town for dinner. Paul is a wonderful host and made sure we had all the information needed for our tour of the Ring of Kerry. His suggestions made our trip even more enjoyable. The property has a nice view and the rooms and facilities were great. We hated to leave!

We have stayed at this beautiful Country House Hotel numerous times and they have excelled themselves everytime. Paul and Annette are the best hosts ever! Their food is of Five Star quality and beautifully presented.

We have stayed in the Plaza (noisy), Hotel Europe and lots of other so called Luxury Hotels in Killarney but Loch Lein is the best by far. Killarney IS VERY NOISY but here is the most tranquil place you could stay in. Yes its out from the town but only 3 kms and its cheap to go by taxi.

Just head out towards the Killorglin Road, after Fossa Church take first left. Its easy to miss as its only a by - road.

Fantastic hotel. Staying again in August!

A magnificent holiday in a beatiful location

As an elderly couple, seeking comfort, friendly service and nice nature surroundings, we found all this during our 3-weeks stay at Loch Lein. We can recommend this guest house without the slightest reservation.

We just returned from a week's trip to Ireland. Five of our nights were spent at the Loch Lein House Country Hotel in Killarney, County Kerry. Killarney is a great central location to visit all the beautiful surrounding areas and experience the best that southern Ireland has to offer. We booked our stay at the Loch Lein through AAA and had not visited it previously. I had read several excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. We could not have been more satisfied with our experience.
Our first night was a Sunday and we arrived after 8pm. We had gotten lost trying to find the Loch Lein through no fault of theirs. Somehow, our itinerary only had the name of the hotel and no phone or directions. Many helpful people gave us directions but navigating the many roundabouts proved to be a challenge. Finally we arrived and I was near tears with the frustration of not knowing where to go. Not to worry. Annette and Paul, our lovely hosts made us feel immediately welome. They showed us into our spacious room with a beautiful view of the lake. There happened to be a full moon. Though it was late, we were offered dinner in our room which we gratefully accepted. Paul is a superb chef and we enjoyed a five star dinner with a lovely wine.
Over the next four days and nights we were given the best of service. The full Irish breakfast is excellent with an array of fruits, cereals, cheeses, breads and yogurt along with hot breakfast cooked to order. There is no extra charge for this great meal.
Every morning Paul would ask us where we were off to that day and would produce helpful maps and suggestions to make our day's adventure a great one. Several of our excursions were made because of his suggestions that we would not have known about. We loved spending our days visiting the many magnificent sights of Ireland, but always looked forward to our return in the late afternoon to the Loch Lein. The hotel sits on a large open property overlooking a beautiful lake. It is private and quiet. There are lovely lanes and fields to walk in.
If you plan to go into town at night and know you will be returning late, Paul will be happy to give you a key to let you in.
Paul and Annette offer the relaxed atmosphere of a country home with the service of a five star hotel. Their attention to detail is superb and it all totals into an experience that we will never forget.

A Winner

from Ainetreasa
This is a wonderful place to stay. Lovely quiet location, beautiful view, clean, spacious bedrooms and the host, Paul, is a fund of knowledge on the Killarney area. It's a small hotel - feels more like a guesthouse than a hotel, but it works really well. I would happily recommend this place to anyone.

Loch Lein made our wedding day

from SpencerLondon
My husband and I were looking for an unusual and attractive venue that was not a hotel for our wedding. As my husband's family and friends were all travelling from London and around England, we thought Killarney would be a lovely treat for the guests. Loch Lein was our choice of venue and we erected a marquee in Annette and Paul's carpark. Our families spent the whole weekend in Loch Lein and 120 of us celebrated our wedding in style.
Loch Lein was amazing and magical. The rooms are a great size and no matter what room you're in, you are spoiled with the view. The rooms are definitely on-par in size with your bigger hotel. Paul and Annette catered our entire buffet wedding menu and the food was exceptional. The quality and presentation was more than up to standard and the staff that helped out over the weekend were friendly, efficent and courteous.
The most breathtaking thing about Loch Lein is it's location. The view over the lakes and mountains are so spectacular. We felt really special and were treated like royalty for the whole weekend. Both our families have Loch Lein firmly placed in our memories and for any occasion, be it birthdays, anniversaries, or just a weekend away, I would recommend it highly

A very special part of Ireland

from maczek
My Wife,Son and I were joined by 30 of our friends at the Loch Lein Country Hotel to celebrate my special birthday. To say that it was a wonderful memorable ocasion would be an understatement. Paul, Annett and their staff made our stay and celebrations a truly great occasion. We and most of our friends stayed for 4 days, none of us wanted to leave such an idyllic location.

The accommodation at Loch Lein is of a very high standard. The rooms are big and well appointed. The lounge is a great place to relax in, where one can read or just soak up the wonderful view from the window. The bar is well stocked with some fantastic Irish whiskys. After a day touring the countryside, walking, fishing or playing on one of the many golf courses situated in Kerry and an evening sitting at the bar or relaxing in the longe finishes off a wonderful day.

Who could ask for anything more! The cuisine at Loch Lein is also of a very high standard

Loved Loch Lein House!

from CapeKim
We stayed at the Loch Lein House for two nights in September, 2006. Of all the places we stayed in Ireland and Denmark during our 2 week trip to to Europe, my husband and I can highly recommend staying with Annette and Paul at Loch Lein. The minor disappointment of not being located directly on the lake (although we had a VERY nice water view from our room) was quickly remedied by the couple's welcoming friendliness and the beauty of the house and room. Both were spacious and immaculate, and we enjoyed returning after a day of exploring the Ring of Kerry; the tour bus picked us right up at the top of the road after Annette called Deros Tours to let them know we were staying there. Although, being a guest house, they do not have a pub, my husband and I made great use of the facilities at the Hotel Europe about a quarter mile down the street, where I had stayed previously two years earlier at double the price, to visit their pub for live music and take photos of the lake and gorgeous scenery. And Annette does a GREAT Irish breakfast! Stay here--you wil not be disappointed!!!
