Loved the Killeen House

from maryswan
My husband and I planned a trip to Ireland to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and a friend recommended the Killeen House. I saw the website and thought it looked nice, but the website did not do the Killeen House justice. When we first arrived it seemed like they were waiting for us - Michael, Geraldine and Charlie knew our names instantly and made us feel so welcomed! Before we even got to our rooms, we knew the staff and where everything was. We enjoyed many pints in the Pub, and we had delicious breakfasts and dinners in the restaurant. They were totally accommodating to our golf and sight seeing schedule - one morning breakfast was prepared for us long before the restaurant opened. Michael had many suggestions for golf courses and Geraldine helped us with local sights to see. Besides a tremendous staff, the hotel was beautiful and the beds the most comfortable I have slept in away from home. We are not waiting 20 years to return to the Killeen House.

Wonderful charm

My father and I went to Ireland in September for the Ryder Cup. We had the pleasure of spending 4 nights at the Kileen House with Michael and Geraldine. I cannot say enough about these people and their staff. They all go completely out of their way to make sure the experience one has in their hotel is a positive one. All of the staff was very informed about local happenings, distances, etc. The accomodations are great, the pub in the hotel is the most inviting and fun place to meet people....And the food!! The restaurant in the Kileen House Hotel was unsurpassed in our trip. We had the opportunity to eat at some very fine restaurants in the Ring of Kerry as well as Dublin and none were as tasty as the Kileen House. Both my father and I cannot wait to book our next trip and stay at the Kileen House.

The Killeen House is a special place. You don't find places like this everyday. From the moment you get there, Michael and Geraldine, the owners of the inn, treat you like family.

I have never stayed in a place with such a warm and friendly atmosphere. Their staff is terrific. I guarantee you will want for nothing. They drop everything to make sure you are satisfied.

Great pub, wonderful restaurant, terrific people and convenient to town. The Killeen House has it all. It was the highlight of our trip.

I hated to leave and I can't wait to go back.

Wonderful Experience at Killeen House

from Cory312
I do a lot of business travel and stay in plenty of different types of hotels, inns, etc. I have never been made to feel more at home than by Michael and Geraldine, the owners of Killeen House in Killarney. The accomodations are great and the Rozzers Restaurant in the inn was fantastic, both the food and the service were top notch.

One of several examples of the hospitality at Killeen house was on a morning that I had to leave at 5:15. Geraldine took me into the restaurant kitchen the night before and showed me how to make the coffee. When I went into the kitchen the next morning, she had left scones out for me for my ride.

If you are a golfer or just a traveler in Killarney, and want to stay in a hotel just like one that would be in Chicago or Philadelphia, I'm sure there are those type of places. If you want to feel like you've been to Ireland, and experienced true Irish hospitality and generosity, go to Killeen House.

Fantastic is the only word I can think of

Michael and Geraldine will help make your trip to Ireland an unforgetable experiance. The food is the best in Killarney and the pub is not to be missed no matter what the hour (say hi to Charlie -mah frien). I look forward to visiting again in the future but I need some time to recover in the present.

Sound Advice

from golfboy
Having stayed at the hotel three times now, it genuinely feels like home. Visiting Michael and Geraldine is truly like visiting family. In addition they both give wonderful advice on golf, restaurants and "goins on about town". They also will make any arrangements necessary to make sure you enjoy your visit.
There is not a better way to finish a day of golf than to have a drink in the famous pub and a wonderful dinner at Killeen House! This is THE place to stay in Killarney.

Simply fabulous!

from ktomom
My 7 y.o. daughter and I just got back from a 10 day tour around mid to southern Ireland. We stayed in 5 different places in 10 days. One of them was the Killeen House Hotel in Killarney - could not give enough rave reviews. It is quite simply the very best place to stay. From the moment you get there - you feel so very welcomed and oh my gosh how accommodating everyone is. Michael and Geraldine, the owners, are just the best and this attitude trickles down to everyone who works there. Breakfasts are super, we ate dinner there twice (stayed there 3 nights total) and had dinner in the restaurant 2 times - each meal was very good. They were accommodating, attentive, very personable, and you just plain felt great about being there. The prices are very reasonable for all the warm fuzzies you get! DO NOT look at other places - this is the one!

Our Favorite place

I recently returned from my 4th visit to Ireland and my second visit to the Killeen house. What was special about this visit is that my other trips had been golfing trips with my golfing friends. This trip was I was the guide for my wife and andone of my golfing buddies and his wife. We spent 5 nights with the Rosneys and they made this such a wonderful experince for my wife and friends who had never been to Ireland.
The food remains outstanding and the accomodations are great. But what makes this place so special is the hospitality and friendship offered by Michael & Geraldine. We stayed at two other fine establishments in Kinsale and Adare and thoroughly enjoyed them both(they were referred by the Rosneys), but it is just not the same as Killleen House.
They are a wealth of information for the first time visitor and have never given us abad steer for food /lodging /golf or sightseeing.
I think what sets them apart is that they take the time to get to know all of their guests and make you feel as if you have known them all your life.
If it sounds like we like the Killeen HOuse, we do and we will return as soon as we can . I could not recommend any place higher than the Killeen House and would advise that if you have not stayed there, put it near the top of the list for your first or next visit to Southwest Ireland.

the friendliest place in a friendly land

from davep043
When I decided to go back to Ireland, with my wife instead of a bunch of golfing buddies, I knew the first stop had to be the Killeen House. I had stayed there on my golf trip a couple years ago. and knew it would be like returning to stay at the house of a good friend. The rooms are just perfect, the food for breakfast is delicious, the food at dinner is beyond belief, and the craic in the pub is grand, but all that is insignificant compared to the feeling of welcome when you walk in the door, whether its your first visit or your twentieth. I hope to return many many times.

Best of the best

Quite simply our best hotel experience ever. We have stayed in a number of 5 star resorts and hotels and none compare with our stay at the Killeen House. Michael and Geraldine are inn keepers of the highest quality and make everyone feel totally special. Charlie is the best batender ever as well as tour director and baggage handler above reproach. We cannot imagine a better place to stay. Larry and Susy Kimbler, Dallas, Texas.

Top Local Tips for Killarney

Watch for the bars letting out When the bars let out, be on the lookout. Drunken young people pour on to the street and seem to be looking to keep the party going. Fights and rude behavior tend to be to common. We were warned three times before even going out on a Saturday. Even by 1 a.m. the crowds and raucous behavior was starting. I was happy to simply catch a taxi out of the towne center

Ross Castle You can only see the inside of the castle by tour. Although the castle is open until 5:30P, the last tour departs at 4:45P and we missed it by 5 minutes so we weren't able to get in.

Great sightseeing. Ring of Kerry, Killarney National Forest, the cliffs, and Connor Pass.
