I stayed here as I was attending a conference in Killarney. The hotel was an ideal location as I travelled by train from Dublin and walked the few steps from the train station. I also ate in the hotel and the cuisine was outstanding. I highly recommend the steak, where ever they get their meat they should keep on using them. Great hotel in all facilities.
Stunning Hotel

This is a stunning hotel. the bedrooms are huge, beds exceptionally large, soft pillows, crisp sheets. Very clean, no dust to be seen anywhere in the hotel. Food is wonderful, cooked fresh to order and very large portions.
Central location, in the town centre, walking distance everywhere.
Great service and staff, very helpful, friendly and kind. Caring and charming people.
Suitable for golfers-many golfing extras, walkers-next to Killarney National Park, shoppers-shopping centre nearby, fishers-Killarney lakes. Great for an activity break. Would also suit short breaks as Kerry Airport is only a 15 min drive.

ll Be Back!!

from Cat1212
Myself and my wife stayed in this hotel over the Bank Holiday weekend with our two teenage sons. Usually when we go on holiday our sons are very difficult to entertain as very few places appeal to them. Killarney did not suffer this problem. We were in the center of town and the boys were able to explore the town without us having to accompany them everywhere. The hotel had a funfair in the car park next door for the holiday period. This may be a problem for some but was a god send for us. The town is lively and busy. The hotel was great with excellent staff. The menu was very varied and offered real traditional fare such as Irish stew and bacon and cabbage, but it also did homemade burgers and lasagne for the boys. They also had a pool/snooker room which kept our sons busy while we listened to the Irish bands in the bar. Killarney is somewhere everyone should visit.

Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Thank you to the International Hotel for your great hospitality, it was appreciated very much. This is an excellent hotel with very friendly staff. the food was outstanding, only the portions were too big. The food was served hot and efficently. It was nice to have the breakfast served to you, not self service. It has a fine pub, bar and music. The hotel has a good apperance. I will be reccommending it to friends.

Great Food and Service

from Nelly25
Hi, Just wanted to say a few words about this hotel. I was in Kerry in June visiting family and I stayed three nights in this hotel. I didnt hire a car so this hotel was ideal as I was able to get a bus from Kerry airport into Killarney, the bus took 15 mins and it was a two min walk to the hotel. The hotel has a lovely bar, there was live music every night while I was there and the bar seemed to be somewhere used by tourists and locals. The lobby is very impressive and I couldnt fault the staff. They gave me free newspapers, free internet access and the food was superb. Its a great hotel.

Loved the International

from Lorryman
We stayed at the International in July and had a brilliant time. The staff are so friendly and helpful, they really go that extra mile for you. I read the last comment about parking, there are only limited spaces outside the entrance of the hotel, but we parked in the car park only a stones throw for €6 for they day. Considering that you are in the very heart of the town and for the price you pay, it is well worth it. This hotel is of 4 star excellence, the rooms are large, food is great and the service is excellent. I couldnt fault it.

Location has advantages and disadvantages

from Godwit
We stayed here for 3 nights and booked it, via Expedia. We failed to notice there is no parking at the hotel. The closest public car park is about 200m away, the other side of a major building development, and costs 1 Euro per hour with the parking charges running fron 08:30 to 18:30=10 Euros per day (except Sundays). So in the middle of breakfast you have to rush out and get a parking ticket. Not the hotel's fault but a little disappointing that you can't tell that, from even their own website. You just have to deduce it because parking does not get a mention at all. Having mentioned our shock to the receptionist, the manager offered to book us into somewhere else, with no penalty, if we wished. Now that is real service and that encouraged us to stay.
Located right in the centre of things means that it is really easy to walk to the shops, restrauants etc but the downside is that it can become very noisy. A large number of the rooms, including ours, looked out over a pedestrian way between the Killarney main square and the new cinema complex opposite. This seemed to be a meeting place for the party-goers and it was boisterously noisy every night until about 4 am. The double glazing is not of high quality, and we had to keep the window closed (no air con) so, what with the noise and heat, we did not sleep terribly well.
We wern't the only people at breakfast that had had disturbed nights!
I think most of your previous reviewers must have stayed in the quieter rooms (there are a number that look inwards) because the noise levels are a very marked feature of this hotel.
Apart from that the public areas are smart, service was good and the staff friendly.
If you like late night partying and do not have your own transport then this is a good city-centre hotel. If you want to go to bed at midnight because you are going on tours in your own car, you should look elsewhere.

Great Hotel.

Great Hotel right in the center of Killarney. We booked a triple (Room 221) with a great view out of the front of the hotel.
This hotel has class, combined with a friendly atmosphere, helpful staff, bar and restaurant. Within walking distance of Killarney national park, shopping, restaurants, pubs and station.
We parked right outside the hotel, although there are only a dozen spots, but we never had a problem and the hotel was full.
There is plenty to see and do for three or four days here, although we found a car a necessity to get the most out of our stay.
We would definitely stay here again.

No Room to swing a Cat

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husdand and I spent two nights in the International Hotel Killarney on June 2nd & 3rd. We were late arriving to the hotel on the Friday evening, where we were meet by the receptionist who was very nice to us. We were then handed a map and told to park in the public car park in the centre of the towm - we were shocked that the hotel had no car park and we were not told that when we booked - it's the last thing you want to do a 11 o clock at night.

We then went to our room - when I opened the door I could not believe my eyes the room was so small (We had booked a Jazzui suite which was costing us €170.00 per night)
There was a small standard size double bed and single bed in the room - tea and coffee making facilites and an iron and ironing board in the coner along with the oldest wardrobe I had ever seen. That was it - oh there was a protable tv on a high stand which was a neck strain to seen from ground level.

Our bedroom window which was very small looked out onto the hotels back yard - where they kept all there stock- not a nice view, especially when it was the hotest weekend of the year. The rooms vere so warm and there was no air conditioning. The old fashion wall paper around the window had fallen off and there was dust everywhere.
The only nice part of the room was the bathroom - there was a lovely double shower and jazzui, but it still was very small.
Hanigans bar was very nice and we enjoyed the music there. We eat in the restaurant on the Saturday night and the food there was out of this world.

The only thing I can say is visit the International for food and drink, but dont stay there unless you see your room first. I would not stay there again if I was put in the same room The International hotel would have gotten alot of business from my family nad friends as one of my sisters had recently moved to kerry and we visit her once a month.

Wonderfully traditional Hotel

from 99Traveller99
I stayed in this hotel in February and had a great time. The staff are wonderful, so attentive, you felt like part of the family. The hotel is amazing, it has a lovely decor and the rooms and lobby are spotless. We were upgraded to a suite for no extra charge and it had a plasma Tv, jacuzzi and private seating area. I couldn't get over it, really big WOW factor. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Killarney, town centre-shops, bars and restaurants all around you. Talking of bars, the hotel has a bar attached which had trad Irish music the night we were there. The craic was mighty. Another tip is to see Killarney National Park which is across the road from the hotel, great for exploring and you can get a jaunting car from outside the hotel which will take you around, and the price is quite good. Great place, great hotel...

The added extras

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have just returned from The International Hotel, Killarney where I took my mother away for the weekend for Mothers Day. We stayed at The International Hotel in the centre of Killarney for 2 nights bed and breakfast and 1 dinner for E129 each. I thought this was a very good offer.
The hotel was lovely, the room was alot larger than I was expecting and the beds were very comfortable. I found the hotel extremely clean and very traditional. We had dinner on the sunday in the hotel for mothers day and the waitress surprised us by presenting my mother with homemade chocolates which I thought was an extra special service. The food was fantastic, a large selection which caters for all tastes. My mother is diabetic and normally this can be a problem when eating out but the hotel cater for all special requirements.
The hotel is very traditional, it is about a hundred years old and you get the impression of comfort and elegance. The stairs in the foyer are fab and must be seen. The fact that this hotel is in the very heart of town is great as my mother cannot walk far and we had everything, shopping, sightseeing even jaunting carts, right on the doorstep.
This is a fabulous hotel and I would recommend it to everyone.
