Restaurants are expensive Sorry to say, Ireland is very expensive for Americans at this time - the restaurants would be expensive if the prices were in USD but the Euro adds another 50% on top of already high prices. Ordinary restaurant entrees will be 18-25 Euros with nothing on the side (like a salad). Fish and chips for lunch cost 13 Euros and a burger could easily cost 8-11 ( with fries and drink). Pay for as much as possible before leaving home and bring your ATM fully loaded with cash from home.

Trains if you buy your ticket at the station it is VERY expensive~!You can save about half if you book online or even on the phone ahead of time.
