We found this hotel excellent. We got a great deal here in comparison to rates quoted by other hotels in the city. The Hibernian Hotel is of a very high standard. It is right in the centre of town, has a great restaurant and their front bar is class! Definitely worth a visit.

Top Local Tips for Kilkenny

Kilkenny Castle Kilkenny Castle was started in the 10th century and is situated on beautiful grounds on a rise uphill from the town. We took a guided tour which was gave the history and walked us through some of the interior of the castle. It was fairly short in length. We then walked around the castle. Many people were enjoying the grassy areas and a band was playing. On the other side of the castle was a beautiful rose garden. It was a beautiful day and there were people out but it was not crowded. We only waited a few minutes for a group to leave for the tour. The castle is a short walk into town where we had a light lunch. Not much to see in the town--stores, shopping etc.

Great restaurant Zuni Restaurant right next door to the Hibernian Hotel - Fantastic food.

good value dining in jacobs cottage the besr food and value in kilkenny as i stay in the city frequently due to business i have eaten in most of the restaurant and jacobs is by far the best for value and quality
