A Wonderful Experience

I was directed to the Vienna Woods Hotel through a EFtour company for which a fellow teacher and I were in charge of 26 people while visiting Cork. The hotel was wonderful and the evening meal was wonderful. I think it was extremely nice to have the manager greet the group leaders in the lobby when we arrived. The wait-staff was very responsive, polite and courteous. No one had any complains whatsoever about the hotel or the meal.

Upon departure in the morning the administrative staff was there assisting all of the participants.

We were part of a group visiting this hotel. After booking I came to this site to find out what others had thought and was surprised to see the wide range of views. If it helps, here are mine:

Good - rooms were a good size, clean and generally well maintained. We were staying in the newer section and I didn't get to see rooms in the older part. The food (other than breakfast) was OK. Plenty of car parking.

Need to work on - Breakfast. Wasn't good on any of the 3 mornings. Agree with earlier reviewer about the scrambled eggs - very poor. The grounds are overgrown.

Overall the hotel was OK for our needs. Not the best place I have ever stayed in but a long way from the worst.

This place is a complete ripoff !

We stayed as part of a wedding party , and every single person complained and was unhappy with this daylight robbery .

Its is filthy , smelly , broken down , dingy , no one cares about anything there , quality and customer service are alien concepts to them

they are quite happy to let it run into the ground . I wouldnt put a dog in this hotel .

and all of this for 110 euro a night ?

do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.

I stayed recently at the Vienna Woods Hotel. I must say I was very well looked after. The service and food were excellent.

A horrible experience! Cheap decore. Run down. Furniture ripped, dirty. The place has the ambience of a garage sale. The rooms small. Not clean. Stains on carpet . Furniture must have come from a Holiday Inn from the 60's that went out of business. The grounds are nothing but overgrowen brush. In the country, nothing to do at night. Bad service in the hotel and the restaurant was dreadful. All this with the pretense of being a top shelf place. Save your money and avoid at all costs.

Previous comments about this hotel are puzzling. I represent a large travel company and we recently (2005) rented 20 rooms in this hotel for 2 nights. My room was excellent and there were no adverse comments from any of our clients. The staff were all friendly and helpful and there was no sign of the problems claimed by other reviewers. There is an old and a new part but all seemed clean and well maintained. We had 2 dinners at the hotel and they were fine. Breakfast was the standard buffet that you will find in hotels all over Ireland. The chef has a problem with scrambled egg but if he/ she can take some lessons in that little matter, there will be nothing to complain about. The hotel is quiet with ample parking and lovely grounds. I'm sure that there are noisy weddings or parties on occasion but that is the same in any hotel and to condemn them for making a living is most unfair. We were all very happy with our stay at the Vienna Woods and can recommend it with confidence if you are after a place in the middle range with comfortable rooms and quiet surroundings.

Awful hotel, appears to be a new section attached to the old part. Same room rates apply whether you have a room in the new building or one of the older ones, where I was, even though the standard of the rooms are not consistent. At 95 euro for a single room this is a cheek.
Dirty bedding, windows that would not shut properly, grime, dust, cobwebs, mould, funghi all in one room! No heating in the bathroom, grab the bath towel only to discover its not really a bath towel as it barely covers your bottom! When I complained the next morning I was met with indifference, they are obviously used to receiving complaints like this and are expert in fobbing you off. Save your money and go to the to the Silver Fields Moran down the road for about the same price where the plaster is not falling off the walls or even the Great Southern at the Airport, lovely, modern, warm, sheer luxury compared to this.

the3 previous reviewer must be blind, 20 acres of appallingly bad service, fights and rough loud cheap weddings, no sleep, two star rooms and 4 star prices, terrible breakfast and owner who we were told think they run the Palace in Vegas...This is 100% fact absolutely god damn awful place!!
We would rather sleep rough to be honest than endure this kip again

Car Hire You will need a car to enjoy the location of this hotel to the full, it is located 10 minutes from Cork Town centre and about 20 minutes from the Airport. If you are touring Ireland make sure you visit Killarney and stay at the Killarney Plaza Hotel.
