I slipped in the shower fell out on to the floor taken shower curtain and pole with me and hit the toilet with force. There was no bath mat so it was very slippery, I reported it to the receptionist she only asked if I was ok and said she would send someone up to fix it.When we returned later that evening no one had sorted out the damage. They arrived the next day when we were packing to check out. No one asked me to fill out an accident report card or even enquired if I was ok after my fall. When we got home my family were furious over the way I was treated. I had to go to the doctor I was in so much pain. I have a cracked rib and some brusing. My daughter rang the hotel three times to talk to the manager to complain and she got the run around from the receptionist saying he was busy and he would ring her back He never did.

Top Local Tips for Galway

Don't miss Kenny's Gallery! Kenny's Gallery is in the same premises that used to house their bookshop (now online) Don't miss this place, it is really special. An old rambling building, with rooms over many levels, it has a fantastic selection of art, both Irish and international artists. Best of all, however, is Tom Kenny himself. His parents started the business and he grew up in/with it. He is obviously devoted to his work and loves what he does. And what a character he is! Try to chat with him if possible, he is a lovely man. An interesting thing about Galway is the possility of hearing Irish spoken as a living language. While I was there, a local woman came in and started chatting with Tom "as Gaelge". She was obviously well known to him and they both conversed away in Irish. It was lovely to hear. Kenny's book store was an institution and the gallery is well set to be the same.

Atlantiquariam in Salthill if Galway's notorious weather is getting you down, check out the Atlantiquarium at Salthill. It has all sorts of sea and fresh water displays including a rare white skate, huge crabs and lobster. If you are lucky you might get to pat a cod. Afterwards, move upstairs to 'Schooners' - a fish restaurant par excellence.

Donnelly's of Barna This was where we had the best meal of our trip - excellent food (mainly fish/seafood) but other itms as well, beautifully cooked and presented.
