Prices here were very reasonable. The hotel is convenient to find and a stone's throw from the main shopping area - very handy! The hotel is quiet and the room we were given overlooked the square which was nice. We would definitely stay here again.

I have just spent a very pleasant few days in Dublin and would recommend the Hotel St George. The location is ideal, opposite the Gate Theatre at the top of O'Connell Street (well cleaned up at last!) and the Dublin Tour open-top bus is at your door.( Well worth the 15 euro.)
The hotel is very clean and the receptionists pleasant and helpful.I liked the little touches.e.g. chocolates on my pillow. (on a serviette!)Breakfast was excellent and staff courteous and attentive. I cannot fault it for value for money, location and warmth of staff. I would stay again.

Carpet and walls grimy and old - my carpet had a hole of rotting carpet by the shower room - when I complained the manager spoke to the owner who wasn't interested. 50% of the staff disinterested and bordering on rude. Entry by electronic lock IF the staff are there. 3 of the 4 channels on the TV not watchable. Phone wouldn't take incoming calls. Breakfast average - staff spent a lot of time arguing loudly in the kitchen. Dublin is a dirty crowded city with very few native Irish workers I don't know why people seem to like it so much.

Top Local Tips for Dublin

Be prepared for a long wait When we got off the plain in dublin there must have been 10+ people waiting for a taxi and when you land at 11.30pm it is not ieal to only get to your hotel at 1.30am. However the queue moved quickly enough, I would recommend maybe booking an hotel which has complimentary airport transfers. But failing that the taxi driver was very chatty & it cost around 19 euros to our hotel. On our way back to the airport it cost us 30 euros because we booked a taxi which is expensive for the same journey that only cost us 19 euros on the way there.

Bars & Clubs Ask at your hotel the best bars and clubs to go to we went to Redz and it was really good music but the drinks were expensive (but worth it) there are plenty more bars in Dublin that are cheaper it jsut depends on whatever you like.

Hotel St George Although we LOVED the Hotel St George I would recommend you take a shower at night. We were not aware that the Hotel St George turns off its boilers at night. (Energy Conservation) We woke up at 5:00am to catch a flight, but we could not take a shower because there was no hot water and since it was April in Ireland it was way too cold to take a frozen shower. We tried to get the night porter to fix the hot water issue but he was unable to turn it on, so we flew 10 hours back to the California without a shower. Other then that we had a great experience. I will go back to the Hotel St George again.
