Hotel is in great location, nearby are great bars and shops. Room was very comfortable and clean. Only downside of my stay was the Hotel manager who was very rude to me on one occasion, asking lots of security questions after I returned from shopping, which I found very annoying. She should get some proper customer service like the rest of her staff, I was the paying customer at the end of the day!!! Bar in the hotel is very nice, but bar staff are very slow, so avoid at busy times.
Central Hotel Dublin - Avoid like the plague

Room, arrived room was cold no heaters working, hotwater luke warm. Heating fixed, went out that night came back no heat working. Night club noise unbearable till 3 am in the morning on a Monday night! Next morning no heat on , spoke to management at reception and listed complaints with no satisfaction and the excuse you were the only ones complaining ( all thh other guests which were few couldn't speak English), Dining room for breakfast was Artic in conditions and breakfast was a very basic preheated rubbish and bears no resemblance to an Irish breakfast, as a "3 Star" hotel I don't know who would be gives the ratings. The hotel is not registered with the Irish Tourist Board, use a Jurys Inn or a Travellodge at least you might get some sleep and have a decent shower in the morning. Shame the hotel has great potential, but the management clearly don't care about the customer.

I stayed on night at the Central Hotel at the end of May 2006. It was the only place in Dublin with a room, and it's no wonder. Besides the fact that the place is old, in poor condition and noisey as heck at all hours of the night, they charged me $150 for an 18 minute phone call to an 800 number that was toll-free. Can you believe that! When the airline that supplies the toll free phone called the hotel to confirm that it was a free call, the hotel still insisted that I had to pay. (That's over 2 times the per night rate.) Stay away from this one.

Once we found the entrance to the Central Hotel the fun began. It truly is in the center of activity in old Dublin and minutes from all of the touristy areas. We enjoyed the old building, which was at our visit under continual refurbishment with painting on our floor. I knew about the noisy nightclub and asked for the quiet side of the hotel and the clerk put us right on top of the noise. The nightclub rocked from 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. with a vengeance up through the open area inbetween the buildings. It felt like we were in the bar! My son got a room on the streetside and never heard a thing. Th clerk apparently did not understand what I was asking for as she thought the streetside would have been noisier. The breakfast was beautifully presented and abundant. The price was a good value and the discounted parking nearby was a bargain compared to other options. We walked everywhere. I would stay again at Central Hotel, but I will ask for the best room in the house...on the street side. No extra noise and even a city view.
Best Western!?

I have just returned from my first visit to the fair city of Dublin. The location of the hotel could not be faulted - a short walk from Grafton Street and Temple Bar however, I do feel the hotel is overdue a refurbishment. Our room was very dark and shabby in places, the shower temperature varied from luke warm to ice cold throughout our stay (when maintenence came to check it out his excuse was the hotel was old and compared it to "Fawlty Towers"). Some construction work was also going on in the street behind the hotel which coupled with the early morning deliveries ment sleeping in was out of the question. The hotel's saving grace however, was the hearty Irish breakfast which was greatfully appreciated by myself and partner - a great cure for our Guinness fuelled hangovers. If all you are looking for in a hotel is somewhere to lay your head after the pubs and niteclubs close then this place will meet your needs. If you want more from your hotel, don't stay here.

There seem to be very varied reviews on this hotel and that is pretty much my feelings about it.
The library bar is nice, location is good, breakfast is good but......
Rooms are tatty and corridors and bathrooms dirty.
The restaurant was very poor, my husband had to send back his steak not once but twice at the same meal!!
The nightclub is a problem but we were made aware of it when we booked so that was fair enough.
Overall I would stay there again if I got a good deal but would not eat in the restaurant.
There are loads of very good places to eat around it and the Indian on the next corner is a highlight in itself!!!

I have stayed at this hotel several times. I will never stay there again. This last time, the shower was mouldy and the corriders smelled like rubbish. The library bar, which used to be a nice place for a drink, looks tatty, the service is appaling, the furnitre worn and in need of new covers. Some rooms are noisy due to the nightclub underneath the hotel. The other rooms are noisy due to the talking crosswalk indicator. Stay somewhere else!!

To the people interested in staying at the Central Hotel. I find this hotel very city central, its ideal in walking distance from some of the sights, very friendly atsophere, i would like to express my deepiest gratitude to Wayne the Concierge for his professionialism and his indept attention to detail, i have travel the world, i have stayed in many hotels, i have nevercome across a more guinein concierge that is humorous, and warm hearted, and nothing is to unatainable for his clients who stay there. Ireally enjoyed my time at Central Hotel and what even made it more out standing was Wayne himself who is a asset, a chartarter and truly a professional person. Myself and my partner have just returned from our trip to Dublin and this was the second time we'd stayed at the Central Hotel. The hotel has a great location, great breakfast, lovely bar and the room we stayed in (the room with the jacuzzi) was fab! friendly staff especially Wayne who makes you feel very welcome . Looking forward to my next visit.
Just what we were looking for!!

Had the good fortune to stay in the central hotel last weekend - boy was it central. We had a wild time visiting the local bars and restaurants. Didnt get to eat the fare in the hotel and missed the breakfast (hung over), but staff very friendly. This hotel is soooo so central to everything I love in Dublin.

We have recently returned from a stay at this hotel and wanted to tell everyone that there is no better location than Central, literally steps from Grafton Street and a short walk to Temple Bar, Trinity College, O' Connell Street.
I found all the reception staff to be very friendly and helpful. We arrived early in the morning and were pleasantly surprised that the room (nice and cozy) was ready for us and we would not need to wait till 2 pm (advised check in time).
From the time we checked in we felt like home, taken care of and really welcomed.
All in all, fantastic value for money.
We would stay again without a second thought. Thanks
