Historical Traveller Reviews of The Arlington Hotel
Great location, but noisy
from smm648Excellent location
from karenandbecsGreat stay in a great location
from NancyGMinnesotaRestaurant disorganised!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe reception staff at the hotel are great. Make sure you book a table for evening meal as the restaurant/bar is very busy. There were quite a few complaints about the service in the restaurant. If you are looking for 'typically Irish' staff then forget it as most are either Chinese or Eastern european. The steak meal was awful.
The fiddle group and the irish dancers were excellent (and free).
The breakfast is very good (all you can eat).
Overall, this is a very good base for a short stay in Dublin. Just over the bridge from Temple Bar.
I would recomend Toffes cafe bar. Excellent service and great food.
Brilliant hotel
from KathJ_8Great!
from A TripAdvisor MemberStaff were friendly, although the girls in the restaurant didn't really now what they were doing. Apparently they were mostly new, so that should change in the near future.
The Arlington is in the center of Dublin. Almost anything you will want to see can be reached by foot. We bought a rambler ticket for Dublin busses, a waste of money.
The Arlington hast the "Knightsbridge Bar" on the ground floor. Here Irish Folk music and dance are performed daily! We even saw a lot of irish there, that should tell you how good it was. The Bar has about 500 seats and was crowded, still we couldn't hear a bit in our room on the second floor.
The Irish Breakfast was excellent, although the breakfast room (the restaurant in the afternoon) is pretty small. Getting up early will save you a lot of time!
Although Dublin is the most expensive city I've been to, it beats London by far, the Arlington was a real bargain at 170 Euro for two nights including a complementary dinner. Check out the hotel's website for a good rate.
We'll go there again!
fantastic
from wesso13hotel staff are very friendly and it is a great location in the centre of the city. didn't want to go home and would certainly go back to the arlington.
Brillant Hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe got a really good deal £120 for 2 nights including Breakfast and one evening meal!
We asked for a nice room as it was my husbands birthday, it was great, a HUGE kingsize bed and a third bed, 2 big chairs and a sofa, a good size bathroom and a nice view of the River Liffey.
The hotel itself has a unique atmosphere with all the armour and wood interior, very friendly.
The bar is of a large size serving irish food, good irish music and dancing, this available 7 nights a week and is free entry. We were there on a Tues night and it was really busy with people and a great Irish atmosphere.
The location is fantastic as you are just around the corner from O'Connell Street where you can catch all the tour buses etc.
The breakfast in the hotel is buffet style serving full irish breakfast and continental breakfast and is very nice and tasty.
To sum up, this is a perfect hotel for a short break, excellent value and a lovely Irish welcome.
Fantastic Hotel!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe location is perfect, right by the River Liffey opposite Temple Bar. It is an ideal base for exploring the city, less than a minutes walk from O'Connell bridge.
As soon as you walk in you are met with a long lobby area with oak beams, suits of armour and big comfy sofas. We were given Room 234, a huge room overlooking the river. The room was well furnished with very large bed and three piece suite. Also very clean.
After reading other reviews about the bar and entertainment we just had to try it. And we weren't disappointed. We ate from the set menu (27euros), food was very nice and well presented and I can recommend the Steak & Guinness Pie.
The Irish dancing was fantastic, I couldn't believe how busy the bar was, and it was only Tuesday night! Book a table if possible.
The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome.
I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel and I will definately return.
Great Hotel.

the luas The luas is brilliant for getting around and cheap, we went to Tallaght where there is a brilliant shopping centre
Buses Take up the bus tour which allows you to hop on and off for 24hours. It is 14 euros pp and has stops near all the attractions such as the Guiness factory which was good. The airbus from the airport was good value as well depending on where you are staying ask the driver for advice.
