Generally I found the accommodation to be of a fair standard with good facilities. However, as a non smoker allocated a smoking room I found the general aroma of the furniture and rooms particularly offensive, and the extractor equipment intrusively noisy. The location of the hotel is ideal for accessing the main attractions. Generally I found the staff to be polite and efficient.

We had a fantastic time in Dublin and loved the Stephen's Hall Hotel. The hotel is around 5 minutes walk from Grafton Street, through Stephen's Green, which is a lovely park. O'Connell Street and Temple Bar are further afield, but are easy to access by bus (although we didn't take the bus since we enjoyed the walk!). We were very impressed by the 'Air Coach' service to the airport - which stops right outside the hotel and only costs 7 Euro each way. The suite was lovely - it's so useful to have a kitchen, lounge and diner; which allows you much more flexibility in terms of when/where to eat/go out etc. The hotel staff were very friendly. The cleaning service was excellent (we felt a bit guilty when we got back to the hotel every night and found that our washing up had been done!). We'd definitely recommend trying the Italian restaurant downstairs from the hotel - lovely atmosphere and great food; although visitors should be aware that Friday and Saturday nights are very noisy because the restaurant/piano bar opens late - the best option is to join in! We'd definitely stay there again!

Overall the experience at the hotel was positive. Each room comes with a bedroom and a kitchen/TV room with a stove top, fridge, pots/pans, microwave, CD player, and TV. The bathrooms are not deluxe but they function. The hotel is a bit older and the bathroom fixtures and showers tend to leak a bit and the floors in the bathroom are showing sings of heavy wear. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Temple Bar area but during the day the St. Stephen's Green is open so you can walk through the center of this park cutting some time off of the walk. At night you have to walk around the park and that adds about another 5 minutes. The nice part about the hotel is the ability to cook food in the room. The Irish are not known for their great cooking skills and really did not find that the resturants in Dublin provided great food. The hotel is about 5 minutes from a large Dunn's Grocery Store. The night porter, Ted, made the stay much more enjoyable than it would have been otherwise. He is a perfect example of the friendly people found in Dublin and will tell you all sorts of interesting stories! Good hotel for the price. They book rooms from Priceline and I set my own rate for less than $110(USD) per night for 4 nights including New Years Eve.

I am a regular visitor to Dublin, this time the usual hotel I stay in was full, so tried Stephens Hall.
We had a one bedroom apartment which was very spacious, large bedroom, lounge and kitchenette. It was very tidy and quiet which was great. The main benefit was the price though - I would spend on average 300 Euros at the Fitzwilliam down the round - this was an absolute bargain at 120 Euros.
Would I stay here again - absolutely, its a great find.

We had a one bedroom suite and the accomodations were very nice. I'd call this a 3 star hotel. Everything is clean, but in the bathroom you can just start to see signs of wear (nothing major). My other "issue" is that the TV is in the living room, and you cannot watch TV from the bedroom.

Hotel desk employees are extremely pleasant. However, the key is on a key chain the size of my head so you can't very well take it with you during your adventures. You leave it at the desk and pick it up when you return. Staff in the restaurant for breakfast are pretty clueless.

Location: it's about a 20+ minute walk to Temple Bar; maybe 15 minutes to Grafton Street. You can cut through St. Stephens Green during daylight hours, but they close the gates at dark and you have to walk around.

If you purchase the City Tour bus pass, the closest stop before the last stop of the night (around 6:30 pm) is north of the River Liffey near the O'Connell Street bridge, and it's quite a hike back if you have bags to drop off at the hotel before heading back out.

No major complaints about this hotel, however, next time we'll choose something closer to the action and deal with the noise. We go out at night, so by the time we get back we fall right to sleep anyways.

Wonderful place to stay, walking distance to everything!!!

My husband and I just returned from a 4 day stay in Dublin and had a wonderful experience at Stephen's Hall. The room was perfect. Had a great, deep tub, a very comfortable bed ( the comforters were to die for! nice and soft) All the amenities that are needed and it was a much larger room from the european standard which was great! The hotel staff was extremely helpful and friendly. It is literally a 5 minute walk, going through St. Stephen's green (which is one block away) to get to Grafton St. and all the shops. The park closes at dusk but even walking around the park only adds a few minutes and the city is quite safe. There's a fantastic little pub right on Leeson street going towards St. Stephen's Green where you have to stop at....Hourican's....absolutely the Dublin experience we had hoped for. We had a fantastic long weekend trip there and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is looking at staying in the city where it all happens but set apart from the temple bar area where it definitely is a city that comes alive in the "wee hours" of the night. There is a piano bar that is on the bottom floor of the hotel and you can hear the music until 2 or so in the a.m. if you are in the hotel but it didn't keep us awake at all ( I did bring ear plugs just in case from earlier reviews that I had read...) but have a few pints before returning to the hotel and you'll be good to go. We can't wait to go back.

Beautiful Apartments

I stayed at the Stephens Hall Hotel & Suites for 2 nights in June of this year. I had booked online through Travelnow and had got a fantastic room rate for a one bedroom apartment which was perfect for me and the friend i was travelling with. On arrival we were given the keys to a two bedroom apartment which was sheer luxury. One large double room with en-suite bathroom, 2nd large twin room, very spacious bathroom, sitting/dining area, and kitchen all of which were of very modern decor. The apartment was immaculately clean and included cooking facilities if you so wished to do so as well as hairdryers, iron, tv, cd player, fax machine and internet connection. Reception staff and night porters are most helpful and always willing to accomodate you. The apartment was situated just round the corner from St Stephens Green only a 10min walk (when cutting through the green) to Grafton Street however the only slight thing that wasn't ideal was that on returning from a night out when the green gates are closed it is quite a lengthy walk all the way round the green which can feel like a never ending road when all you want to do is get home! However in saying that i would not hesitate to stay at these apartments again they are just a perfect base for exploring the city and are of quality.

I took my girlfriend here last weekend. The room was a good size, larger than your average European hotel room. The bathroom was spotless and the living room consisted of a couch coffee table and chair with TV, CD player and safe. There was also a small kitchen with microwave, 4 hob cooker fridge and iron/board.
The staff where really friendly
Towels changed daily
There was a European restaurant attached to the hotel, I ate there on the Friday night without making a reservation, the meal was fantastic and the service was grand!!! (Try the pasta)

I will stay again and recommend to anyone

My Wife and I stayed at the Clarion Hotel Stephens Hall from March 15th-March 19th. Everything was perfect. I especially want to thank Ted the night manager for his help and encourage you to speak with him if you need advice on how/what to do. The room was huge and absolutely beautiful.

People on this website have said that there was too much noise. Not true. If you shut the windows you'll hear nothing and if they are open you'll hear a few people having a good time. It's a major city after all. Even on St. Patrick's day we fell asleep just fine.

The restaurant below provided breakfast 2 mornings and it was GREAT. Reasonably priced and very friendly service.

The front desk provided outstanding service as well. I mentioned Ted specifically but overall it was the best front desk I've ever had. They were very knowledgeable and friendly. My only irritation was that they were a bit hesitant to cash our EURO traveler's checks - but they eventually did. Word of advice - leave home without them - almost no one takes them.

The location was perfect as well. You walk 5 minutes through a gorgeous park to get to the shopping and another 5 minutes from the shopping to the Pubs.

This was a first time trip to Ireland for my wife and me and we had a great time. This hotel was a large part of the success.

Fantastic Apartments, Great Price!

Booked two 3 bedroom apartments for a weeks stay in Dublin. The AirCoach Bus (12 Euro RT) from Dublin Airport has a stop directly infront of the hotel lobby on Lower Leeson Street. The apartments are a few blocks walk from the hotel check in but conviently located. All major sights and pubs are within walking distance. The apartments are in a nice, secure neighborhood and has an electronic security gate to keep unwanted vistors outside.

Inside the apartments, the rooms were furnished in "Ikea" style furniture, but the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was fully equiped with full sized 'fridge and coffee/tea maker. Also, plenty of plated, ups, silverware, etc. Each apartment has a living room, nicely furnished, with TV. There are 3 bathrooms, one with shower and one with shower/tub combo.

My stay for one week cost $1200 per apartment, which was divided by 6 guests in each unit, so the cost compared to renting multiple rooms was great! Highly recommended.

We wanted to stay in the centre of the city and that is why we choose this hotel. Location was ideal for us for night life we could walk to and from the restaurants. Friendly staff and we were very happy overall we would highly recommend.

Top Local Tips for Dublin

Getting to and from the airport We hired a taxi to the hotel for 25 euros, which between the 4 of us worked out at about 6 euros per person. The taxi driver advised us that the airbus, which stops outside the hotel is 7 euros per person! So dont assume that getting a bus will be cheaper- plus a taxi is quicker and they load your bags!

Dine before 10 PM It may be us, but we thought that we would find restaurants open after 10 PM; we were wrong. Mistakenly, we waited until 9:30 to look for a nice restaurant and found nothing but fast food places. It could be the area were were in; Temple Bar, St Stephens, etc. My tip is to make you dinner reservations so you have a place that is open.

Convenience Premier Suites are close to Theatres, fantastic food (Bang Cafe, Unicorn, Ely Wine Bar just around the corner) and best shopping in Dublin (Grafton St and Stephen's Green Shopping Centre). Lovely place for walk with stephen's Green two minutes away. Excellent choice if you want to enjoy the best of Dublin nightlife without having to hang around and wait for taxis!
