Historical Traveller Reviews of Sachs Hotel

Good hotel but could be even better!

from blondieBath
We stayed at the Hampton for a couple of nights to celebrate our 20th Wedding anniversary. Our room, which was an upgrade, was very clean and modern, with tasteful decor, nice big super king size bed and modern bathroom. Weren't convinced it was an upgrade, as it was not that large and the bathroom was a standard size. But fixutres and fittings were of a high standard, there was a large widescreen TV/DVD . A mini fridge would have been a good addition.
The staff were all very helpful, but we felt is was a shame that only on the last day did we come across any Irish staff, but this seemed to be the same throughout Dublin.
Breakfast was a little disappointing. You had to ask for everything - there was no breakfast bar to help yourself to fruit, juices cereals etc, we had to ask for orange juice and thought hot milk with tea was a little odd! Toast was of the cheap, sliced variety, a selection of that lovely Irish bread, rolls etc would have been so much nicer. The cooked breakfast was fine but not exceptional.
For the price and the Standard and type of hotel they are marketing a few things need to be improved on . But being new perhaps they are still working on these little details.
They have a comfy looking seating area outside the main bar/restaurant area which would be good in warm weather. The actual front of the hotel is lovely, an attractive white Georgian Front.
Getting around was easy, very regular buses into the centre and only 20 minutes walk to St Stephen's Green. The airport bus very conveniently stops right outside.
Would stay again, and recommend it , but they definitely need to upgrade their breakfasts, fine for a 3 star B&B but not an upmarket, boutique hotel.

Fantastic Rooms, great staff and fab food!

Just returned from a 2 night break with my husband and we couldnt fault this hotel at all, the rooms were immaculate, staff were friendly and the food was fantastic. Its in a gorgous suburb of Dublin and its a lovely walk into town. We have stayed in many boutique hotels in the UK and this one is very good value for money, would definatly recommend and hope to return.

excellent staff

I booked a 4 night midweek stay at The Hampton for my husband's birthday. I emailed the hotel a few times to arrange canapes & Champagne in the room & find out other details, & always received a very quick & detailed response. I booked an upgrade but the hotel then upgraded us to 1 of their 3 suites free of charge.

I've been lucky enough to travel to many places around the world, but the staff here were the best I've ever encountered. They're all very professional but friendly & nothing was too much trouble.

The size, layout & decor of the rooms were perfect. On the first day we didn't leave the room until late afternoon but housekeeping still came in - something I've not found in any other place.

The location is ideal - it's the best suburb of Dublin & the lovely Herbert Park is a 3 min walk away. There are plenty of restaurants & cafes within 10 min & the pleasant walk into the city centre is only 20 min - we didn't get a bus once during our stay, although the stop is right outside the hotel.

All in all, can fault anything & we can't wait to return (hopefully later this year!)

Fantastic!

Fantastic hotel. Great rooms, obvious money has been well spent revamping this hotel. The staff are great, full Irish breakfast a treat to behold.
40 inch tv in the room, so clean too.
Stayed here as its not too far from UCD and I'd stayed at the awful Montrose Hotel last time. The Hampton is a model that the Montrose should follow!

Lovely Boutique hotel, good location, great staff, reasonable rates.

from YorkshireNomad
I called the Hampton hotel direct to book a room for two nights. They were very helpful and offered us a complimentary upgrade (it was midweek). The rates on the hotel website were very good to start with at 99 euros. This did not include breakfast but we were very glad that we opted to pre-book the offered 10 euro breakfast on both days which we thought was well worth the money. You are able to choose whatever you want from the breakfast menu for this price, all freshly prepared to order. Although we did not have any other meals there if we had stayed longer we would have done so as we were impressed with the food we had at breakfast and thought the menu looked fairly reasonably priced.

I though the hotel was in a great location outside Dublin, the parking is free and there are also some nice places to eat in the Donnybrook area itself if you don't fancy going into the centre every night. There is a bus stop is right outside the hotel for both the Airport bus and the bus into town. A taxi costs around 10 euros but if it is not raining you can walk into town in about 25 mins.

The room was lovely with a massive wall mounted television and remote control fire. There is free internet access and a DVD player and the beds are large and comfortable. The hotel has been recently refurbished and rebranded and is every inch a boutique hotel, all the staff are very friendly and helpful (especially Gudrun on reception). The hotel also offers use of a nearby fitness club with swimming pool for guests which we did not use due to time constraints but would have done.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, or return again, we enjoyed our stay immensely.

Nice boutique hotel a little out of the center.

I went to the Hampton Hotel for a weekend and had a nice stay. I was supposed to be there with a friend who couldn't make it at the last minute and they were nice enough to take the extra breakfast charges off. The hotel itself is brand new and very cute. It's located right outside of one of the Aircoach stops from the hotel and about a 15-20 minute walk to the center of town and most of the attractions. The room was great with a very large flatscreen tv and spacious bathroom. I was a little disappointed they didn't have any business center, not even a computer you could log on to although they did let me use theirs behind the desk to check in to my flight. Another nice perk was that they have charges in case you forget yours, even for ipods!

very stylish

from Oscar33
A very good, stylish 4 star hotel. A little way out of town but on a bus route and the Aircoach stops outside. Our room had a king-size bed and huge plasma TV. Breakfast was freshly cooked. Like everywhere else in town prices were hiked during our stay because of a big rugby match (hence only 3/5 for value) but the rates usually available are good value.

Great Hotel with so much going for it .. hope it does really well !

from Bar33
Recently stayed here with my partner for a night compliments of a birthday present from my parents ! Its recenlty opened and I hope this hotel does really well in the future ! Really nice staff, so accommodating and welcoming from Reception to Bar and waiter service ! Decor is funky and modern, warm and traditional in places .. it was to my liking, Rooms were spacious and well kept and they seem to try and cater for all needs, even a DVD player if you want to listen to some music or bring a dvd to watch over a night cap later in the evening (Which I did after a night out in town) . Location .. I think its perfect, It may not be the centre of Dublin City but you have a bus stop right outside (Regular Services Eur1.80 ) or Taxi's in abundance with regular service too for about Eur8-10, you're only 5 Mins into town ! This hotel would be absolutely Ideal in the future for anybody going to the New Lansdowne Road/Aviva Stadium staying for a night, plenty around, its a lovely area, very safe and nice ! Anyway, they have a Lovely Smoking Terrece outfront if you're a smoker (I'm a reformed smoker but it nearly tempted me back just to sit out and enjoy one with a drink watching the world go by) .. I should also point out, They also do a terrific breakfast ..... all in all, great hotel, really hope it does well and thank you for a lovely stay !!

What a fabulous hotel this is. Really. The decor is amazing. It has been so well thought out. The staff are OUTSTANDING. They were so helpful and genuinely nice people. The receptionist was warm and welcoming - and even knew my name because they had been informed of my early arrival.
It's an inspiring place to meet people and have coffee. The bar is BIZARRE and bold in its decor, but incredibly fun!
I agree with the previous review in terms of bedrooms. They are a delight to the eye. And very comfortable beds.
A great place...and one that, without doubt, I would HIGHLY recommend whether on business or for pleasure. I WILL be visiting again. Great value for money.

stayed in the hampton hotel with friends going to concert in o2 arena. reception was very helpful, friendly and professional. the decor is beautiful and modern. the rooms were sensational...huge comfy bed, widescreen tv and even remote control fire! had tea and coffee facilities, iron, safe, 2 hairdryers! bathroom was big with shower over bath, even had underfloor heating! price was a steal at only 120 euros for the room which slept 2. bar is gorgeous and service excellent! breakfast on sunday morning was on until 1pm and checkout was also 1pm. food was delicious! couldnt recommend hotel highly enough, will definitely be back! only short taxi trip into town costing roughly 12 euro. lovely location.

Top Local Tips for Dublin

This is a night you can't miss! On a sunday night - the best place to be is at The Arlington Hotel. Irish themed night, with great irish dancers and music. Really good lively and friendly atmosphere.

Best time to go If your looking for a time of year that it doesn't rain....if you ask the Irish they may laugh at you. Apparently there are about 5 sunny days in the year. When I went it rained about every day, 3 times a day. Just be water resistant.
