Excellent value
from JulieJ25Enjoyed the Quality Hotel
from LINYKenmareBuffet breakfast was also very good and service in the lobby bar was good with a nice range of light meals available. We tried the leisure Center and found the pool excellent, nice warm temperature, also the jacuzzi and steam room were great and the fully equipped gym was awesome.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and it's only 15 minutes walk or a short cab ride to the Grafton St area. This location will be tremendous when all the construction in the area is finished.
Also visited the Ferryman pub down the street on several occasions and enjoyed it - live Music Saturday nights.
what a dissapointment
from bluewonderA Quality Hotel
from MikeyBEssexGot off Airlink airport bus (which I recommend, paid 8.50 for a return) at O'Connell Street and walked to the hotel along the river on Thursday morning and had to keep checking I had not gone past the hotel as it was a surprisingly long walk, leaving behind occupied offices and normal signs of City life. Walked via the busy Pearse Street on Friday afternoon and appeared to be slightly quicker. Either way I felt quite safe and no problems with cabs.
Arrived at hotel very early - 11.00 and asked to check in. Receptionist was very pleasant and said he would see if my room was ready, and if it was, it would be no problem. It wasn't ready, and I got the feeling he knew that but I felt appreciative that he had gone through the motions instead of dismissing me out of hand. He suggested I use the hotel facilities and return at 2pm.
Hotel pool, which I shared with just two other people, was excellent, warm, a good length and very clean. 2 euros for a swim hat, locker and towel provided free. Forgoing the gym but a swim, sauna and jacuzzi later I retired red faced to the coffee bar for a good quality but typically expensive hotel sandwich.
I checked in at 1pm, had booked a triple (via a big internet agency) staying in an all male party with two brothers, to find a double and a single bed. Did have trouble making my problem understood to a different guy on reception ("not the hotel's problem") so I gave up quickly to bag the single before the others arrived.
Big room, very clean and comfortable, some noise from building works locally, sufficient to wake me early but this will obviously not be a long term issue. Night before ordered room service, an over priced cheese sandwich (no issue with this) but it comes with a tray charge of 5 Euro - this is simply a rip off.
Bar was pleasant, I found staff to be generally helpful and location not really to be a problem once I got my bearings. For first time visitors I recommend the hop-on, hop off tourist bus which was very interesting. Been to Dublin several times and only took this bus as had time to kill but saw the city in a new light and it kept me out of the rain.
Pitiful Service
from ToochyWhen we checked in they asked if we wanted a newspaper delivered in the morning, andd although we said yes, one was never delivered. There was not shower curtain in our bathtub so we told the desk in the morning and when we returned at 9:00pm, it had not been fixed and they had not given us the towels we asked for. This hotel does not have washcloths which I found to be very strange. When the manager offerred to bring a drink to our room as an apology, we had to call down 2 hours later to ask why we never received our drink. Very frustrating!
In addition, it is out of the way and not near any sights.
Beautiful Hotel
from divajulesGood value for money but .....
from A TripAdvisor MemberJust fantastic for the price.
from tweetyduckIts a long walk from town but not too far unless its pooring down with rain which it was when we were there. All the same we walked the river way and the other main road way. Its pleasent enough to walk though if you can negotiate the lorries and building work. Theres a lot of building round the hotel but we didn't get distrubed at all which considering i'm a light sleeper is great. The hotel bar is a bit dead but theres a pub on the corner about 50 meters away which is nice. The free leasure center is good the pool is large enough for a few laps and all the standard equipment is available (running machines etc). If you need to use the gyn bring a small padlock for the lockers and a swim cap. I don't think they provide padlocks and 2 euros gets you a cap.
Out of all the hotels in Dublin, if you can put up with the moderate walk back its the place to stay !
Great Hotel
from Just_GeorgeousThere were four of us, and we had two interconnecting rooms. The rooms are spacious, well furnished and clean. The bathrooms are also really modern and comfortable.
The leisure facilities are also wonderful - the pool, the gym, and there are aerobic classes also.
The breakfast is E13.50 and is really good value although they ran out of sausages on the first morning. (We did go down really late though).
The location isn't too far from town (O Connell Bridge) Its comfortably 15 minutes walk along the quayside and a taxi from town in the day cost us E6, and at about 3am cost us ~E12.
Really good value and you get much more for your money than I think you would get in the city centre.
great hotel- a bit out of the way
from A TripAdvisor Memberalso from the hotel if you walk down towards pearse street you can catch the bus into the centre numbers 1,2 or 3 -- this saves a bit of a walk .
Have a good stay - a satisfied tripper
Top Local Tips for Dublin
Cheap Dinners For an inexpensive and friendly place for dinner, try KC Peaches on Pearse Street near the Grand Canal. Two can eat for 20 euro, without any deep-fried foods. Free wireless interenet, too.
Tour Buses recommended Grab a Freedom bus ticket - includes transfers from airport, unlimited use of hop-on, hop-off tour buses and all local buses. I paid 25 Euros for 3 days and made great use of it.
Guinness StoreHuse Well worth a visit, however timing is important - visit ealry to avoid the queues of tourists and the cramped conditions inside when it gets busy. Buts its always worth it cause there is a free pint of the balck stuff in the most amazing bar I have ever set foot in at the summit of the building with panaromic views around Dublin and further afield. I have been 4 times now and each time I visit Dublin I cant resist going again!
