Brilliant Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Brilliant Hotel in a central location. Just 2 minutes up the road from where the airlink drops you off on O'connell street, and then close to many of Dublins great attractions.
Hotel is very well presented and clean, the rooms are small but perfectly formed. Its ideally suited to people over for the weekend, or at best a few days. If you're looking to be out of the hotel, seeing Dublin for a lot of the day then its perfect. Its a huge step up from hostels or very cheap hotels in the area, but (obviously for the price) its not massively equipped, so a week here might be stretching your love for the location!
Breakfast was lovely, the staff very friendly. I would not hesitate in returning.
Be aware: Central location, can be noisy (although i was not disturbed).
Look around the various booking websites for the best deals.

brief visit and not totally convinced

from btl
was here for a one night stay and found the hotel looked ok with a great position. room nice and clean but very very warm and difficult to control heat. had a room at the back which became very noisy at about 7am when rubbish being put out also no plug for either bath or sink which took me back to student digs many years ago. overall an average review for me but it was nice and clean.

Wonderful hotel

I stayed at the Lynam hotel for 3 nites (Sept 22-25th/05) and very glad I did. Found it on Great Location!! (Right on O'connell St 5min walk from Temple Bar) Great Room!!(Lotsa room for 2) Great Bathroom!! (big and a power shower) Great price!! (80 Euros for Double room and included a full brekkie). WOuld definatley recommend it and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Great location, ok at best

from Havefuneatwell
We stayed at Lynams for the recent U2 concert in Dublin, and I suppose since there were hardly any rooms available for a decent price, it was ok. The best thing about the hotel is its location right on O'Connell Street. It's a short walk to Temple Bar, Tourist office, Post Office and many shops. The room we had was clean but basic. Unfortunately, our room faced the rear of the hotel and it was too hot to sleep (no AC as in many hotels in Europe) with the windows closed but we heard the noises of people throwing bottles into a nearby dumpster! The front desk staff were friendly but clueless and were unable to provide restaurant recommendations or certain directions. The breakfast was I believe a typical Irish breakfast, but unfortunately reminded me of my days eating in the refectory of University College London (very greasy eggs, some sausage type thing, beans, etc). We found a similar breakfast at a restaurant nearby! Overall, though, Dublin is a very vibrant city and well worth visiting. The people are extremely friendly and Guiness and Murphys abound. I would recommend Lynams Hotel if you are on a budget and value location above all else.

Really Brilliant Hotel

Am just back from a stay in Lynams and have to saw I was blown away by the place. Prior to visiting the hotel I looked up Tripadvisor and have to say that i was a little apprehensive after reading other customers reviews. However, they couldn't be further from the truth.

During the course of my stay I was informed that the hotel was under new management. The new management obviopusly have their funger on the pulse as throughout the course of my stay the whole place appeared to be exceptionally well run.

My room was nicely decorated and very clean and comfortable. The bathroom offered a brilliant power shower, complimentary toiletries and really fluffy towels.

The breakfast was also excellent and you could have as much as you like. Most importantly, the hotel's location in the middle of O'Connell Street was impossible to beat. All of this was topped off by the staff - they just couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.

I'll definitely be booking Lynams on my next visit to Dublin and will be recommending it to all my family and friends,.

Avoid It!

from Andy00001
Awful place with small, uncomfortable rooms. We had three different rooms during our stay and they were all dirty, dark, smelly and poorly maintained.

To top it off the breakfast was served by non-english speaking staff that, not surprisingly, frequently got the orders wrong. One morning we were given someone else's breakfasts by mistake. Despite having eaten part of it they tried to take it off us to give to another couple!

We wouldn't stay here again even if it was free!

Good location

from spruce1970
Stayed here on a business trip with a colleague. The Hotel has a great location and is in a nicely renovated building with sympathetic decor and a nice lounge overlooking O'connell street. However, if you are in need of a good nights sleep, be wary of the thinness of the wall between rooms, corridors and nothing is left to the imagination. Standard of cleanliness could have been better and the breakfast was average. Most staff were friendly and accommodating.

Never ever again!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I still get angry just thinking of my week in Dublin, which these clowns completely ruined. The room was dirty and did not get cleaned, there were pubic hairs in the sink, the traffic outside kept me awake until two and awoke me at seven, and the breakfast made me physically sick. Complaints were vaguely listened to and then ignored. I left Ireland swearing never again to return. Sorry to all the nice Irish people who are probably out there somewhere!

Good central position to tour the City

from A TripAdvisor Member
Room clean and comfortable, food good, service very good and welcome first class. Didn't get a lot of sleep though due to the noisy guests in 37. Thanks lads!

horrible food !

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed there for two nights, and regrets it bitterly. The staff was rude and not helpful at all, the greasy breakfast made me violently sick, the bed was uncomfortably and all complaints were ignored. Fawlty Towers, eat your heart out!!!

Top Local Tips for Dublin

expensive Make sure you have plenty of money, bad euro rate at the moment.

Great For Shoppers There is a great shopping district right around the corner. For even more shopping, walk the streets in and around the Temple Bar area. There is something around every corner

Bus link When you arrive at the airport purchase a 3 day bus card. This will give you unlimited access to buses. There is an excellent bus link to and from airport. It also entitles you to hop on and hop off the city sightseeing tours buses.
