The en-suite was only just big enough to get into, the shower cubicle was tiny and you could not sit on the toilet unless it was sideways!
Although it is located on the Liffey it is also above a nightclub and two doors away from a topless bar!
Stay away from this place and try one of the better and still reasonably priced hotels.

Avoid at all costs!!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberNothing about the hotel has been refurbished, this is a PIT not a hotel.
The staff were arrogant, menacing and clearly used to taking complaints, the manager was unhelpful and condescending, all in all an experience I never want to repeat. The "bathroom" door would not open , until 15 stone of "security" virtually pulled the handle off trying to wrench it open, he was was not interested in resolving the other problems with the room. ie, 4 coat hangers in a double wardrobe (mucky inadequate cupboard), a light fitting hanging from the wall, apparently that was someone elses responsibility.
The small broken window looked out onto a pile of cigarette butts and a load of extraction vents
I couldn't believe the place. We cancelled the booking left and got the next flight home the following morning having spent the night in a clean and comfortable travel lodge at the airport.
This place runined my weekend and I will never even contemplate using this "hotel" again and if you've got any sense don't book it, way overpriced and completely misdescribed on their website.
A V O I D A T A L L C O S T S !
t book it......
from ChubbyArseWe complained and the receptionist moved us to another room on the 1st floor (101). This room wasn't much bigger, but at least we could walk down either side to get in/out. The bed was only just a double, unfortunately we didn't measure it, but it must have only been four foot in width (similar to the previous room). We could tell it was non-standard as there was a headboard nailed to the wall which was a foot bigger!!! The en-suite was bigger but had a bloacked out window and it smelt of drying laundry, as it was obviously near the laundry room. The room didn't have a window as such either, more like a laundry chute with a skylight at the top.
Both of the en-suites we had, had wall fixtures (soap dispenser, toilet paper dispenser) which were once attached to the wall, but now just led on the sink and toilet respectively.
We stayed during the week, so we didn't hear any nightclub noise (but that is probably different at the weekend), however in the morning all we could hear were staff coming and going and slamming doors.
Breakfast was OK, and the staff polite, but nothing can detract from the overall state of the "Hotel". We have been left with a stale taste in our mouths, and our "Hotel" experience has let Dublin down and it was ultimately far less enjoyable than similar trips we've been on to Limerick and Belfast.
Get a Grip!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberRight price!
from A TripAdvisor MemberSo if you go to Dublin to have fun in the pubs and to drink some Guinness I highly recommend this hotel. Hotel room is only for sleeping few hours after partying all night, isn't it.
I have been in Clifton Hotel and I am going again....
from marybbloomDo NOT even consider staying here!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe staff are indeed friendly & helpful, I have a feeling that they are accustomed to dealing with unresolvable complaints from almost everyone who stays here! The owners of this property are clearly running a nightclub which happens to have a few sadly neglected rooms above it which they might as well try & do something with. Great location & views from some rooms, but all in all an absolute disgrace which can only harm the image and reputation of this great city for anyone unfortunate enough to stay here.
So bad it is funny!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe staff are generally friendly in a desperate way that would indicate that they are trying to compensate for all that negative energy that must be thrown their way day after day when bleary eyed guests stagger down stairs to check out and complain.
The lady on reception viewed me with great suspision when I came down to talk to her at half 11. She perked up no end when she realised that I was not going to complain about the noise (my friend had just done that) and that all I wanted was the TV remote. I refer the reader to my first paragraph.
She also took it in her stride when I mentioned the fact that the radiator in the room did not work and that the other very helpful gentleman had been unable to fix it with a pair of pliers earlier in the day. An electric heater was later produced for our comfort........... It did not work.
Faulty Towers eat your heart out.

from GlobetrotterSueBy 2am we took her point and as they say, if you can't beat them...
Breakast was the worst I have had in Ireland and we didn't bother after the first morning prefering to try to get a little shuteye in anticipation of the night ahead!
The rooms are basic and compact - ok as a crash pad but poor if you expect comfort of any kind.
Staff friendly and polite.
One concern is that the pub has an upstairs area. There is a door which leads from here directly into the hotel and therefore potential access to rooms. ..
Overall we had a great time in Dublin, it really is a fantastic place. If you have the money I would suggest you go further upmarket and enhance your stay with the aid of sleep!

from A TripAdvisor MemberTop Local Tips for Dublin
Take the bus. I would recommend using public transportation. The bus system is very easy to use and the bus drivers are very helpful in finding the right bus you need. Also the locals are very helpful as well in trying to navigate the bus system.
proper irish if like us you were looking for the proper irish culture pubs you need to venture into the smaller back streets.temple bar is a street with many great pubs on but they are very english and very busy but on saying that still great fun.
DUBLIN Bus 747 from Dublin airport to the city center, bus station. Direct bus, 6 euros per person. Dublin is not cheap at all, a normal dinner is very expensive. Had dinner in the Terrace Restaurant, which belongs to the Temple Bar Hotel, in Temple Bar. There was a menu blackboard in the entrance of the Hotel. Cheaper and best quality than other restaurants in the area. There are also lots of fast food restaurants in the area. Irish stew, beef of ireland, and Guinness casserole seem to be the same ! so just try one and you will have tried all them. Carroll's seem to be the cheapest gift store in the city center. You can find several . Temple bar is a good area for nightlife. There are nice pubs with irish music and dance.
