Historical Traveller Reviews of Cork International Airport Hotel

Good value - comfortable room

from nightaway
We stayed here for a Christmas party night, had eaten in the hotel on three occasions prior to this and had decided not to return, as the food was disappointing on the last visit. However they surpassed themselves for the Christmas Party night the food was outstanding, it was a rather large group (140) and neither I nor the people at our table could fault the food. Service during the meal was fantastic.

On the whole in the hotel bar they could improve their service, there appears to be lots of staff but yet none actually serving, the same applied on the occasions we had gone for bar food.

The rooms are lovely very comfortable the hotel is very modern and the decor extremely funky however I was very pleased with the decor of the bedrooms nothing too wacky.

One other improvement that the hotel could make is signage, as the reception is on the first floor I found it impossible to locate the lift.

Shocking Rip Off

from Berkeleyite
We live in Ireland for part of the year and commute several times per year, so we decided to try this new hotel. Checked in late to make an early conference call to the States and then catch an early morning flight. Very friendly staff arranged a wakeup call for 5:30 am. Fire false alarm at 2:00 brought all guests to the lobby or outdoor courtyard for a half hour while staff figured out how to turn off alarm. But no wake up call in the am, very apologetic and contrite staff told us they would comp the room for our troubles. However, our credit card was charged for the room last week; hotel manager has thus far refused to speak to us.
Kind staff, awful visit. Rip off management.

OK hotel but very bad dining experience.

from battyee
We arrived on a Sunday afternoon & selected an overnight package deal to include dinner in the Strada restaurant & full breakfast on the following morning. We were given vouchers for Dinner at time of check in which we had booked for 8 p.m. When we came down to Dinner we found the restaurant was closed & so we went to the adjoining bar which had 5 noisy customers & 2 bar staff. There we were told that only bar snacks were available that evening. When I presented the dinner vouchers to the bar manager he made a phone call to somebody & said that I would have to go to reception on the first floor. The receptionist apologised for not having the restaurant open that evening but told me that I could have a special order of steak or fish served back in the bar. When we returned the barman would not accept our order for anything that was not programmed on his electronic till system but after another call to somebody and further long wait a steak meal & hamburger were delivered.Needless to say the bar seats, food & ambience fell well short of what we had expected & been charged for.
Breakfast & bedroom was not unreasonable for the price charged & hotel was adjacent to the airport itself. We will not be returning there.

best hotel in ireland

from deemy
On our short stay here back in september we were truely taken aback. From once we entered the hotel, I am not kidding when I say we were treated like royality. We only stayed the 1 night ,midweek, as we had an early long haul flight next morning.
On entering the hotel we were greeted by a lady who personally took us up to the reception upstairs. The guy on check out was so helpful. He booked us in online for our flight to London and also again for our onward journey from there. The room was huge with a king sized bed and a smaller double, big fluffy pillows and a kick [--] tv which would look big in my living room. Big bathroom also with underfloor heating. We had a drink downstairs in the foyer area but it was so comfortable sitting in front of the fire that it didn't seem like a foyer area at all. The hotel itself has a real retro feeling to it a look which I previously did not like much but overall the hotel is done up very tastefully. The bedrooms are not decorated retro though. We only ate breakfast so can't really say much about the food. Breakfast was fine.
Overall this was the best hotel I have ever stayed at in Ireland bar none. The staff were the nicest by far of any hotel also.
I booked the hotel on their own web site for €100 b&b for one night. 1 thing I have to say though is that when booking it was cheaper to book 1 night b&b with 2 days 'free paking' than pay for 1 night b&b on its own which was a little strange so I did that eventhough we had no car to park .
If in future, we have an early flight we will definatly be staying over night. An extra hour in bed and a decent breakfast rather than the muck served in the airport, I think is well worth the €100

fabulous hotel with ultra contemporary styling

from travellingplants
We stayed at the Cork International Airport Hotel for two nights. Originally we had only intended to stay for one but we changed our travel plans to stay for another evening prior to our departure from Ireland due to the pleading from our children to 'please go back to the great hotel.'
The staff were incredibly helpful from my first contact with the hotel via email to our departure. We stayed at the hotel with our two children (5 and 8 years) and the staff throughout were incredibly relaxed and thoughtful with the children which made us feel more relaxed when dining in the restauarant and bar with the children. We stayed in a first class room (almost a suite) with two king size beds, two bathrooms, and a huge room with lovely occasional furniture all tastefully finished, complimentary room service drinks on arrival, free movies etc. The bed linen, towels, pillows etc were first class as well.
The real surprise of the stay was our time in the Pullman Lounge, a replica first class aircraft cabin with top of the range panasonic massage chairs which were heavenly and just the perfect way to finish a day of flying and travelling. (extra cost but worth it). The breakfast was also brilliant with fresh tropical style fruit salad and high quality Irish cooked breakfast and continental pastries etc.
we have stayed in many hotels and we did notice the extra attention to detail that the designers have placed on little things such as lighting, lounge furniture, intimate spaces within large reception areas, excellent facilities and design of the ladies toilets.
Altogether the hotel with its lighting design, fabulous furniture, and friendly service was an absolute surprise and excellent value for money and we hope to return.

Fantastic

from Idrone
I very rarely stay in airport hotels as I find that they generally are bed factories with little of the attention given elsewhere.

This hoel is a notable exception and I would consider it the best hotel in Cork regardless of whether you use the airport or not.Not a five star with spa but punching well above its weight.

Cork is a small city so the distance to the centre is minimal.

The design of the hotel is unusual but extremely eyecatching with an emphasis on aviation. You can use your laptop in the lounge while seated in a leather lufthansa seat direct from an aircraft!

The dining area has an option of being seated in a cabin area taken from a passenger plane.Adults will sit at at conventional tables but childern are will only eat in the cabin due to the novelty.Happy childern at a distance!!

Dinner was good and breakfast excellent.Service excellent and the room was amazing.Big room for a new hotel with flat screen and more than one would expect from a hotel in this class.

Dont expect great views but for those intending using the airport the arrivals departure area is 100m walk with none of the hassle of bigger airports.

Will stay next time in Cork.

Love the Design - Love the Hotel

from nicenic
When i stayed in the Night I was very overwhelmed on how beautiful and Pop Arty this hotel is. I love the changing of the Corridor Lights, the Shiny Disco Ball and I( am very amazed by our Room. we had a Economy Class Room which exceeded my expectations. It has very good features such as 32 Inch Telly and normally this would go for a First Class Suite or so, so its a very good Value for such a good Hotel.

Also from the Service Point of view its very great. The Receptionist and the Night Team are doing their best to help me out regarding wake Up Call and Shuttle Service, so Big Thank you for the Reception Staff.

Great value for money

from AnneTralee
Our family of 4 (two adults, 2 children aged 7 & 9) stayed at this hotel, as we had an early flight to catch. We paid 150 for this hotel, which included breakfast. This price was fantastic, as they allowed us to leave our car for 18 days in their carpark. They had their own airport shuttle, and everything went like clockwork. We called them when we landed at Cork airport on our way home, and the shuttle was there immediatley to collect us. The hotel is really amazing, very unusual, and the boys just loved it as there was so many unusual items on display (old fashioned cars, old planes, the breakfast area is like a plane itself). The beds were very comfortable, beautiful large bathroom, and the bedroom was huge. I would definitely stay here again.
