Mattress extremely uncomfortable, felt springs--like sleeping on a box spring. Was clean. Receptionist didn't even look up when I arrived at desk. She told me to follow her to the back through a courtyard to the end of a narrow stairs. At the bottom of the stairs she handed me a key and pointed up the stairs and left. I found my room upstairs--the lock was difficult to open. I had to carry my luggage through the front and courtyard and up the narrow stairs. There were no rugs on the wood floor. After a very uncomfortable night on the spring mattress, I went to breakfast. The back door to the main house was locked, no one answered when I knocked at the door, so I had to walk around to the front entrance in the rain. Two other guest arrived at the same time--the was no staff. A table was set with juice, fruit and cereal--we helped ourselves. Ten minutes later one of the guests went looking for the staff--this might have been about 8:30. A friendly lady arrived and brought coffee and took orders for breakfast. I decided I couldn't have another sleepless night on that mattress. I told them I was checking out--I had originally booked for 4 nights. The woman at reception didn't even ask me why!!! I can't imagine a more unwelcoming place! The best place to stay in Clonmel is Clonmel Park Hotel....

Excellent room,lovely breakfast.The staff were very attentive and friendly. The lounge bar deserves special mention for its ambience and excellent sing songs! We were lodged in the annexe, with a lovely view over the spacious and well laid out gardens. My only complaint was that I had to leave.
