Warm and friendly welcome by staff at arrival, our suite was enormous, elegantly and tastefully decorated with king size brass bed, lounge, mini-bar, air-conditioning, small table and chairs overlooking a pretty stream and garden. The restaurant was situated in an elevated position overlooking the garden. The meal was fabulous and wine list extensive. Overall a very enjoyable stay. (book the suite as other rooms looked rather small in comparsion.)

Good food There is a resturant called Mitchell's (I hope that is right) that had great food.

Confirm Internet and Agent Booking Abbeyglen Castle and Hotel is a very popular destination location in Clifden, Galway especially on weekends. Make sure you confirm your reservation by phone or e-mail directly with them before arrival. They admit to having difficulty with internet bookings. Even though they were extremely gracious and helpful, if we had been traveling during tourist season, we may not have had a room anywhere in Clifden that was comparable to this hotel.

A day in Town We did not want to travel back along the windy road to go anywhere so we spent the day in Clifden. Walked around town and browsed in the shops and had our first Irish coffee at EJ Kings. Neat Irish Pub with seating outside to enjoy the day. Hopped from pub to pub to check out the scene but came back to EJ Kings. Took pictures of the houses, scenery, churches and just relaxed. Rented a couple DVD’s from the local store and watched in our room.
