We booked this hotel because the Irish Hotels Federation book 'Ireland 2007' said it was 15 minutes from Galway City and had live traditional music 4 nights a week. It actually took a minimum of 40 mins each way to get to Galway City and back and there was no live music during our 3 nights stay from Thursday to Sunday morning. On the first night they put us in a terrible room with cigarette burns on the carpet and bedcover and a shower room and toilet intended for a wheelchair user only. There was no TV as stated in our room and the one in our travelling companions room didn't work. After the shower room light fitting fell down onto the floor we got moved to a better,cleaner room with working TV but there was no daily visit from staff to make the room up each morning nor was there tea/coffee in the room. Our main gripe was that at 8.30am each morning the hotel is completely locked up and in darkness and there was no staff around to let guests in and out of the hotel. Breakfast is served sometime after 9.30 am every day except Sunday when it is served after 10.30 am, both times completely useless for people wanting to get out and explore Ireland or do local business. We didn't see anyone from the management during our entire stay which probably indicate the gerneral lack of activity in the place. Actually the whole town is slow slow or stop stop mode which didn't suit our needs.
On the plus side, the hotel food was good and the restaurant pleasant. The bar was very noisy due to the hard floor and walls having few soft furnishings. Say no more.
