Wonderful Hotel!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We spent a wonderful long weekend at the Aquincum Hotel. We upgraded to an Executive Room and had use the Executive Lounge - well worth the extra 30 euro a night. The staff were incredibly helpful and informative. The spa facilities were really fantastic, with lovely clean facilities and loads of nice fluffy towels. The thermal baths and quiet room with waterbeds were wonderful. It is a very short trip into town, we never waited more than a couple of minutes for the HEV. All and all it is really a wonderful hotel with great helpful staff.

excellent hotel

We stayed there for 3 days, booking the "culture package" which gave two Budapest Cards and one dinner for two, all for just 370 Euros. The pool is a real bonus and as another reviewer mentioned they give free loan of bikes - An afternoon cycling around Margaret Island at this time of the year is just superb.
Breakfast was very comprehensive and the room was quiet and clean. Transport into the City was easy, especially using the free Budapest Card.
If you want a terrific restaurant not too far from the hotel, try Kisbuda Gyongye(---)

What a lovely stay!

from CX
Location: In one lovely suburb of the city, very easy to reach both by Subway (Blue line - Arpad Hid) and by Suburban railway (HEV - Arpad Hid)until quite late!
Reception: Efficient and helpful
Room: Excellent, spacious, with safe, big closet, nice view, small coffee table and chairs, desk and minibar, big bed! and complimentary bath robe!
Cleaness: Outmost cleaness every where
Bathroom: Not very spacious, functional and with branded toiletries
SPA facilities: Excellent with 3 swimming pools, Solarium and gym with free entrance
Check out: Lightning fast!

An overall pleasant stay!

Very Good Hotel

from Dawn90
A friend and I have just returned from a long weekend at the Aquincum and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had managed to get a great deal on a flight and hotel package so the standard of the hotel was perhaps much better than we might otherwise have expected for the price. I would agree with another reviewer in saying that it is perhaps not what one would expect for a 5 star hotel (perhaps the Spa facilities push it up into this category) but it is certainly a very good 4 star. We had a twin room which although not large was very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the concierge service was very good. The extensive buffet breakfast was excellent and the food good on the two occasion that we ate at the hotel. The Spa was great so the hotel is a good choice if you want to include a bit of pampering during your stay. It's a good idea to book any treatments as soon as possible (perhaps even before you arrive?) as we found that many of them were fully booked during our stay. The distance from the centre of town might put some travellers off but there are several transport options and the train that runs from just outside the hotel is very quick and convenient. It is however worth checking on train and tram times if you are coming back to the hotel late in the evening. The hotel offers a free bike rental service and a leisurely ride around Margaret Island which is directly opposite the hotel is a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

more 4 star not 5

We stayed 5 nights here, the shuttle bus from airport to hotel well worth doing, got to hotel and found they didnt really like young couples too much, it is very much a tour group hotel and buisness people, who are very well catered for, we felt a little bit like intruded guests. younger staff veryhelpful, older staff grumpy old men.
breakfast was excellent but far better places to eat outside of hotel for dinner. we found our dinner very dissapointing and the older waiter very off with us, being that it is supposed to be a 5 star hotel.
hotel nice and clean, but bedrooms a bit compact(especially en suite), not bothered about location as quick train to town and not too far to explore by foot.
overall not bad hotel if in a tour group, but we would try somewhere else next time.

Top class hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Aquincum hotel for a long weekend over the bank holiday, I thought the hotel was clean, the staff were friendly, the rooms were a good size and the facilities were excellent. Although the hotel is a train journey from the city centre this was only a 10 minute journey and added to the Budpest Experience.

The breakfast was out of this world - a full choice of pretty much anything you fancy!

The spa facility at the hotel is top class - towels were provided, we were given a tour of the facilities which included steam rooms, saunas, the solariums and also a quiet room which is a dark room with water beds where you can drift off to sleep - bliss.

I would definately recommend a stay at this hotel for people wanting to unwind and stay somewhere away from the noise of the city but still within reach of all the city has to offer.

Five stars - with a lot of imagination.............

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was really expecting a 5 stars hotel, what I got was very avarage room, service, food. Location is very inconvinient if you want to visit the city. Who distributes the "Stars" in Hungary ? Maybe the hotels themselves are entitled to do so.........

Not for independent travelers!

from JaneB
This hotel has nice rooms, food, service, etc. However, it is a TOUR GROUP hotel and is located too far from Buda or Pest!! We were on a group tour but I would never stay in this hotel when traveling independently.

Nice hotel - Dodgy District

from MB15
We only stayed at The Aquincum Corninthia Hotel one evening as our hotel of first choice, Danubius Gellert, was full for the first night so as we were staying for 3 nights we did one night at Aquincum and the other two at the Gellert.

The Corinthia is a nice hotel but unfortunately in a very run down, out of the way district and although the hotel facilities are fantastic you don't fly all the way to Budapest to plonk yourself by a pool or in a steam room all day!

Therefore, we were mightly glad that we moved on to the Gellert the next day, which was perfectly situated for everywhere.

What a wonderful week in Corinthia Aquincum

from A TripAdvisor Member
Corinthia Aquincum is an excellent hotel, however, it is probably more suited for couples that are staying for a week rather than just a weekend break as the commuting into the city centre can get a bit over the top. However, the HEV train station (Aphid Hid) is virtually opposite the hotel and the trains are very frequent and it only takes about 10 minutes to reach the centre of Budapest, where you can connect onto the metro or tram.
The hotel has an excellent thermal wellness centre, we thoroughly enjoyed the facilities there and it was definitely very relaxing. We pampered ourselves with some treatments, the mud-pack is well worth trying!
I think the executive upgrade is value for money, we loved the happy hour and definitely worth 25 Euros per room per night.
We ate at the hotel restaurant three times and we thought the food was good and the price was reasonable.
Overall, good hotel if you are staying for more than just a weekend and don't mind commuting

Top Local Tips for Budapest

Taxi tip Always ask price of journey before setting off. We were quoted 6000 HF for a journey. After saying it was too much the driver said 4000. However since the incoming journey had cost only 2,500 we declined and took the metro instead

7 day travel pass travel pass essential for easy worry free tavel thoughout city areas

Public transport No need to use taxis before 11 pm. Will cost a lot.Excellent public transportation at best prices. A pity not to use.
