Train We took the train from Prague to Budapest without event - very easy and most enjoyable.On our return, we found the train station challenging. We are seasoned travelers, but almost no one spoke english. The info board initially listed the train to Prague but the platform number was missing. We waited for a long time for it to appear and after asking many people, found a woman who told us it was delayed. Later we learned that we had to look for the final destination (Berlin) and it was just a fluke that Prague appeared on the info board. It was most confusing. We recommend asking the concierge to check the schedule the day you are leaving and to confirm the platform as one can easily miss their train.

Getting around Budapest If you are staying for three days, the best way to get around Budapest is by public transport. The metro system is fantastic. Get a map of the metro and you'll be able to get around everywhere.There is also a hop on hop off bus for tourists who visit Budapest for the first time.

Metro The airport bus 200 takes about 20 minutes to get to the nearest metro station (Kobanya Kispest). It isn't the most welcoming journey, as the station is a bit run down and there are some unsavoury characters around the ticket office so be a bit cautious, although i suppose you should bear in mind that this is outside the main city and so it isn't going to be as glamorous as other locations. Once on the train, however, it is a pretty smooth journey.
