My cousin John & I had a 3 night stay Monday to Wednesday & found the hotel good value & ideally located close to the Danube. We booked 2 singles but were allocated 2 twin rooms with en-suite shower rooms, very nice indeed. money exchange right opposite the hotel and plenty of bars & restaurants in close proximity. The street is pedestrianised, busy but peaceful, with no traffic noise. Wouldn't even consider staying elsewhere in Budapest. Just a tip: Take Sterling and change it in Budapest for a much better rate.

Hotel Taverna Located centrally along the popular pedestrianised shopping district of Váci utca, In fact, there's no finer location if you plan to start sightseeing/shopping once you arrive.
I rate this Hotel as a 2 star and not a 4 Star.
You are check in then go to your room, as you walk in past the hallway the smell was very unpleasant (sickly/cigarette). You open your room door and it has this awful depressing décor and smelt as if the carpet has not been cleaned or the bed needed changing, when I stayed there last week Aug 05 it rained for 1 full day, then you notice Damp coming through the wall and the window was leaking making the carpet soaking by the bed.
They did not have any Tea making facilities; the Buffet Breakfast was appalling they had fruit in a 3 tier stand which was mouldy.
The staffs are very miserable and not helpful at all.
