We were very pleased with the hotel standard and enjoyed one week there last October. The location is superb.

I stayed at Starlight Suites in Budapest and the suites were excellent. Large living room with in room bar and fridge. Also had a desk with internet connection.

The separate large bedroom and bath were great! The location was excellent, just down the street from center of Budapest. The staff was helpful and would recommend staying at the suites anytime. Also used the suites in Vienna.

FANTASTIC location and a gem of a hotel. Just a short walk to the Chain Bridge. About a 5 minute walk to a metro stop, and 5 minutes walk to the main pedestrian area. We love a big room--and boy, did we get it at the Starlight Suiten Hotel. Huge living room w/tv, bar, microwave, mini-fridge and sink, so relaxing with a drink in the LR after a hard day of sightseeing was nicer than sitting on the bed. Loved the bathroom too, as it had separate toilet/tub from the sink which makes it easier for two people to get ready in the morning. Huge bedroom with more than adequate closet/storage space. Very comfy bed and pillows. Elevator. Incredibly kind and helpful staff who seemed honored to help us with any requests we had or help we needed. Typical buffet breakfast but with hot scrambled eggs (that were always tasty and warm). Typical danish-style ugly furniture (except for nice chairs) but then, if they dropped a bundle in decorating, they'd raise the room rates. Won't get any "rooms with a view" but it's quiet, and the spectacular sights of the city are just outside the hotel door. I highly recommend this hotel and wouldn't even bother to look elsewhere if I returned to Budapest.

We booked this hotel as we wanted a more luxurious hotel (compared to the usual budget hotels we stay in) and we weren't disappointed. The rooms were huge, with lounge area, bedroom with Queen size bed and bathroom. They were decorated very nicely and were very clean. Hotel staff were really helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was nice, and you could have it served in your room at no extra cost.

It wasn't difficult getting from the airport to the hotel, we used our Lonely Planet guide book to help us out with lots of things, including getting to the hotel from the airport (as we'd heard about the problems with taxi's overcharging) - I'd definitely recommend this book - it was so helpful. We got the number 200 bus from terminal 1 to Kobyana Kispest, then got the metro from there to Deak Ter - from Deak Ter it was about a 5 minute walk to the hotel, it's easy if you have a map - head for the street named Merleg Utca and you're there.

The hotel is in a great location, right next to the chain bridge, the shopping area and it's about a 15-20 minute walk to Liszt Square (I think that's the right name) where there are loads of pubs / restaurants. You can also get a metro from Vorosmarty Ter to Oktogon if you don't fancy the walk.

Overall, I'd say Budapest was a great place to go - loads to see and do. The hotel was brilliant and we couldn't have had a better time.

Yes, yes,...the rooms are huge, like little mini suites. But cold and impersonable, like staying in an uncharacteristic pod. The breakfast was YUK, with the lobby sort of smelling like smoke all the time as they allow smokers at the tables during breakfast (like most of Europe, I know). But this one just always smelled kind of funky. If you are looking for young, fun, hip (as we were) ...this is not the place. Also, it was a bit noisy. We were woken up at 5:00 am by garbage collectors and the rooms were HOT. Seemed unable to adjust the temp, which meant the windows had to be left open, which meant it was LOUD. But, there is a fantastic Indian restaurant right next door. Not a bad place, just would not stay here again. Would look for someplace with a bit more of a personality; Hotel Josef perhaps.

Situated on the Pest side of the Chain Bridge surrounded by 5* hotels the hotel is perfectly situated in the centre of everything you need to see in the city.

The rooms are suites and our room had a good sized bedroom and bathroom with a lounge bigger than the one at home!!

Staff were SO helpful we could not fault them.

Hotel also offers spa and gym if you have the time or inclination.

We have no hesitation in recommending the hotel and look forward to returning

This hotel deserves the rave reviews. My husband and I stayed here for three nights in October 2005.
The rooms are unbelievably spacious, beautifully designed and we even had a view of the Danube. Not to mention a terrace.
Having breakfast served in our room, at no charge, was a really nice touch.
We used the steam room--no one else was in the place.
The staff was helpful and friendly and their English was perfect.
The beds were wonderfully comfortable.
The location is fantastic.
I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel

Excellent location and price

We stayed here at the end of March and I don't think you can beat this place for value or location. As everyone else said it is right opposite the Chain Bridge with easy access to everywhere.

Staff were really friendly and breakfast was good for the price.

Couple of minor quibbles was the sauna and steam room were out of action for repairs, but that could happen anywhere and also for two nights somewhere on the road had its bins emptied at 4.00 in the morning so ask for a rear facing room if you can.

Also don't let the airport tell you to get a taxi it is really easy to take the bus and tube to get there.

What more could you ask for?

For a weekend break in the lovely capitol of Hungary you could not want for a better location.

The reception staff were extremely helpful and welcoming and spoke very good English.
Rooms were vast,clean,well furnished and the beds comfortable,my wife particularly liked the individual duvets,they cut out any squabbleing!
I would not hesitate to recommend the Starlight Suites to any group of visitors.

If you are looking for a hotel that is in the city centre, with excellent facilities, look no further.

The accommodation, location and service are all first class. The staff are obliging and any problems ( if they arise) are swiftly dealt with.

A party of fourteen of us stayed for a weekend and would recommend the hotel for a family or group.

My girlfriend and I spent 2 nights here on the 19th to the 21st of february. Firstly, the price, from expedia, was a snip at £55 pounds per night, including breakfast, because of the good price i wasn't expecting that much but was overjoyed by what we got. The rooms were enormous, with living room, bedroom, toilet and bathroom. We had 2 TVs which was a nice touch. the service was brilliant, with everyone being very friendly and helpful. the best thing however was the location. Right next to the 4 seasons, next to the bridge on the pest side, so close to everything. Budapest was lovely, and having booked such a good hotel was an added bonus. location wise this with the 4 seasons has the best location in budapest, and you are talking high 4* standard with the hotel itself.

Stayed here for 3 nights on 20th of feb 06. A warm welcome from friendly helpfull staff. Great location and breakfast in bed for no additional charge is a nice touch. used the sauna and steam room and only saw 2 other people use it in 3 days.rooms were a decent size and the mini bar was very reasonably priced for a hotel. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone.

Top Local Tips for Budapest

salsa dancing There are a number of slasa clubs in Budapest although I only managed to get to one on Saturday night - The Palacio de Salsa on Arany Janos - good dance floor. Well supported venue with some excellent dancers and a free basic class at 10pm to get newcomers started. My friend is not a dancer but could follow the class even though the jokes and commentary were in Hungarian. Mixed age range. The trend appeared to be couples staying together but they were open to accepting requests from strangers. The room is divided in two and there is a separate bar and meeting area. Only cost 1000 forints entrance fee and the lady on the door spoke English. The cloakroom attendant didn't and was quite unfriendly and somewhat rude. Must learn some Hungarian to communicate better. Don't forget that J is pronounced Y and S is Sh when telling taxi driver an address or they do not understand you. ie...arany yanosh

Cafe Kor Get the Cafe Kor special starter but bring cash as it does not accept plastic.

Vegi Budapest There's a great vegi restaurant called Vegetarium on Cukor utca 3 - open everyday with a huge menu!
