My husband and stayed at Hotel Charles for a short holiday of approx. 3 days. What actually took our attention the most was the service which was above and over a 3 star hotel. The people are very friendly and helpful. I travel a lot for business and must say that the service at Hotel Charles is comparable to a 4 star hotel, you are defintely getting value for your money. The morning we also looked forward to the buffet breakfast as I mentioned earlier, above 3 star hotel standards. Nevertheless, the rooms are very neat, clean and safe. Me and my husband highly reccomend this hotel for your stay in Budapest. The hotel is situated in Buda, it isn't central but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel door that will get you to anywhere you need to go. If we every return to Budapest, we will definitely lodge again at Charles Hotel & Apartments. 110% satisfactory!!!

Get A GPS If you are new to Budapest and want to drive around, please for the love of God get a GPS navigation system. If you don't have one, please rent it from the car rental company for about €8-€10 per day.
Mad Hungarian drivers Plan your route to/from hotel/airport very carefully - if you miss a turn off it could take hours to get back en-route with the one way system.
Great food Try the local dishes, you won't be disappointed. Great variety of restaurants, and generally value for money. Downside, not a great deal of choice fro vegetarians. Lots of restaurants are located in pedesterian areas, so you don't have to contend with traffic noise while eating.
