Excelllent Business Hotel
from BrianF71The rooms were clean. The staff was professional and the hotel restaurant offered decent food.
I would not recommend it for tourists or a romantic getaway, but on business it works fine.
An almost faultless hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberMy overall impression of the hotel was excellent. The construction is very modern; the decor modern and stylish. Any of the staff gave a friendly welcome when approached, or passing in the corridor, and requests were dealt with very speedily, efficiently and professionally.
The location is also good; although outside the old centre, the hotel is incorporated into the extensive WestEnd shopping centre, a similarly modern construction full of stores for the major brands, although prices are high enough that I wouldn't go there for the shopping alone - I would say 20% above those of Oxford Street in London!
Since I was lucky enough to have access to the Executive Lounge, I can say that this was also excellent; it was reasonably small, while spacious enough to accomodate everyone at peak hours such as breakfast. The quality of the snacks available through the day were always excellent, the choice of drinks and spirits good, and stock was always replenished. There's access onto a roof terrace from the lounge or alternatively, from the upstairs corridor (no executive access needed for this!), from where you can just peek over the surrounding rooftops to view some major landmarks, and the castle district... it's not a 'full-on' view of stunning scenery that some hotels in the centre might have, but it's still very nice - and reasonable quiet.
The only problem I experienced was with the Internet connectivity. One is the price - around $40 per 24 hours for an in-room Ethernet connection (bring a cable!) charged to your room, which includes access to the WiFi hotspots scattered through the hotel (but not everywhere). WiFi is Hilton only, and there are no roaming partners.
The other is the connection; for some reason, I couldn't connect to my Outlook Exchange server, even while using a VPN - 2 different types - which left me having to walk to a local internet cafe to synchronise my email. I also found certain other ports, including one I was using to watch the World Cup via a live video feed(!), were also blocked. Extensive testing showed it was due to the hotel connection, but then some colleagues on other email servers had no problems, so take a chance!
Overall, the Hilton Westend is an excellent, modern, stylish hotel, with excellent levels of service, at the expected price point.
Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic!
from AscottowersOur room in the hotel was splendid, we were upgraded to the Exec floor on the 4th floor and the bed was very comfortable. The facilities also. The staff in the lounge were just phenomenal and nothing was too much trouble. They set a table for us to have breakfast out on the veranda and when we started to clear it ourselves (out of courtesy), they rushed out and pleaded with us to stop helping them! The selection of food and drink is also amazing. If you get a chance to go on the Exec floor, I would highly recommend you taking it!
The hotel is situated more or less "on top" of the West End shopping centre which means that the shops are a mere minute away. We didn't really go shopping as such but again, the Metro and the trams are right there at the intersection. Tickets are cheap compared to Western standards and it's relatively easy to make yourself understood.
The only criticism I would have of the hotel is the mini bar. I never really use them anyway because they are always overpriced and if I want water and juices, I would find a local store and get them there. However, the mini bar prices in the West End hotel are indeed exorbitant (1000 forints for a Toblerone - 2.60 GBP / 4.40 USD!!!) but if you don't touch the mini-bar, you will really enjoy the comforts and service that this Hilton has to offer. I highly recommend it!
Extortionate extras, otherwise fine

Excellent business hotel in a great location
from nico_mbeThis Hilton aims to be a business hotel and is probably not the right hotel to choose for romantic breaks or party weekends etc. But they cater to their chosen market very well. I found service to be excellent, friendly and efficient, rooms modern and comfortable with all mod cons and the price reasonable. High speed internet worked well in the room although it was quite expensive. (I think EUR 30 for 24 hours unlimited access, or EUR 10 for 1 hour)
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will stay there again.
Just fine - especially if you like to shop
from tartegninGreat location for shopping, eating, and moderate walks to attractions
from usflyerPleasant Stay At The Hilton Budapest
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe hotel property is pretty pleasant & clean although it is not on the luxurious side nor with stunning design. Room is spacious and comfortable.
The club floor is quite well equipped and there are snacks and drinks at all times.
Location is not bad too, adjacent to the Westend Shopping complex, near to Nyugati Station, Metro and tram line.
No doubt the Hilton at castle district has a superb view, but that area will be quite dead at night and the fact that the place is not easilly accessible by public transport is another drawback. I'm glad to have chosen the one at Westend.
Would surely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Budapest.
New Year at this Hotel
from Gizmo100The Hotel was booked a few weeks before Xmas and we got a great deal. The location is very central and although we tried to book the Hilton at the Castle (it was fully booked) I believe this hotel is in a better location.
It is set amongst a large shopping mall which sounds awful but its very well designed. The good thing is the shopping mall have restaurants open late at night so if you dont want to eat in the Hotel or walk to a restaurant further away then you have plenty of options.
The hotel is immaculate, the staff very friendly and helpful. We didnt have the breakfast but we did go to the Hotel hogmany breakfast and new year brunch where the food and service was first class.
I couldnt fault this and if I wasnt going to be 8 months pregnant this New Year, I would be back again!
Very pleased

taxi v taxi take the hotel taxi to the airport its alot mr cleaner than a city cab and only 500ft more expensive
Tourist Scams It is worth reading various advisory websites about Budapest, as scams are quite widespread, in particular in connection to the restaurant trade. This includes differentially priced "visitors" menus, unauthorised amounts of gratuity be added to credit card bills, and a local special, "consumption girls". These are attractive young women who rather than accosting singleton male travellers for dubious purposes (as happens in, for instance, Hamburg, Prague and Bangkok) here seek to notionally befriend them, and then persuade them to take them to a pre-selected restaurant where 2 meals at the grossly inflated "visitor" price can then be charged.
Tipping at Budapest Restaurants Never leave money on the table after you have paid for your meal. Let the waiter know how much you are leaving them or how much change you want back. Also, you have to ask for you bill, otherwise you will never get it
