Historical Traveller Reviews of Four Seasons Gresham Palace Hotel
Beautiful
from A TripAdvisor MemberLoved, loved the Four Seasons
from A TripAdvisor MemberFirst, the thing that makes any hotel great is the service. And the staff at the Four Seasons is no exception. Especially the front desk, who provided great personal suggestions and were kind and generous people to simply talk with. It should also be mentioned that the concierge staff is quite amazing, and helped me to book last minute plane tickets too!
Second, the public rooms and physical building are amazing. The hotel is flawlessly integrated into the old Gresham Palace and rooms like the lobby, the pool room, and the cafes are amazing!
Finally, the rooms themselves are brillant. Perfect Four Seasons quality, very large with very nice bathrooms, and modern amenities. Again, as pointed out by one other Tripadvisor guest the TV seemed to be misformated for the English channels especially, but this is a minor flaw.
HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended...
Perfect!
from aidan60657I won't go to Budapest for at least another decade while the city sorts itself out. But if you have to go, definitely make sure to stay at the Gresham Palace... it's, well, perfect.
No matter what - it is the best
from HalimbaloEven the standard rooms are not that spacious the whole setup, service and surrounding is overwoulming.
E.g. I did not experianced yet a dreyer for the bathing clothes and this in a wunderfull changing room. The spa itself is not really big but it does well as there are other facilities like a yacuzzi - and all this on the 5th floor at the rooftop. The architecture is amazing, the food as well.
The only negative remark on this hotel was the impression I got in the preparation of a meeting we had there. Only in the very few days before our stay the refelction on our requests went on.
Anyhow, finally it all worked out well and so it is really a pleasure to make the experiance of a stay in the Gresham Palcae - the Four Seasons, Budapest.
Stunning!!!
from bugaboophilThe hotel is housed in a renovated palace dating from 1906 and it is an architectural jewel.
Our Gresham room on the 5th floor was stylish, spacious and had a very original layout.
Food at "Gresham Kavehaz" and the fine dining "Pava" was excellent and the service was very attentive.
Don't miss this hotel as this is one of the most stunning FS!!!

from A TripAdvisor MemberWithout doubt, the Hotel was considerd (by our entire group) as the best in the world based on Location / outlook, building standard and quality of service.
From Australia to America to Europe - You can't beat this place! It truely is a Palace.
Congratulations to Four Seasons for managing such a terrific facility.
Worth the trip
from topsmedRooms vary in size and I preferred to pay a little more for a large room. Ask for a room away from the construction site (it looks like the work should take several more months).
Compared with the level of service I experienced in Budapest in general, Four Seasons has done a great job (really good concierge and reception staff). Still, the service in the restaurants could be better (kind staff but too much confusion).
One item to be improved is breakfast (besides the level of service, see above). Some days, guests had to queue (or were offered a table in the bar) because there was a problem of capacity in the Gresham Café. When breakfast is included in the room rate, guests are allowed to have pre-set breakfasts (continental, American, etc.) with a limited choice or items from the menu up to 5.900 forint per person. This strange system forces guests to make complex calculations. Some days, there was a buffet in the main restaurant, but the choice was limited.
Overall, this is a wonderful hotel (I visited several other hotels and they all looked bad compared with the Four Seasons) in a great location in an exciting city.
Sheer Bliss!!!

Metro/subway tickets Make sure you carefully read the specifications of the various types of metro/subway tickets. A "one trip" ticket only entitles you to one trip, changing lines requires another. Only Hungarians can buy a "Family Ticket". You are best off buying a multi-day ticket like the 3 or 5 day or if you are only there for a day the full day ticket.
Széchenyi Furdo (Thermal Baths) Get the Metro to Széchenyi Furdo (Thermal Baths) for an experience you won't forget. Take your flip flops as your feet will freeze. Take 2 towels as they get very cold outside in the winter.
eating out Go to DIO. A trendy but very good restaurant two blocks from the Gesham Hotel
