Modern hotel in a historical setting

We had the pleasure of visiting Budapest for 4 days and stayed att Art Otel. The hotel lives up to its 4 star rating with quiet modern rooms with very nice baths. The staff was very helpful and spoke good english. The breakfast was not included and that suited us very good. we tried the breakfast buffet one time and it was ok. I would have wanted som more variety of bread. It was very nice to eat our breakfast outside in the morning sun on the hotel courtyard. I can recomend this hotel.

Helpful staff, clean hotel

The hotel is situated in a good location within walking distant to shopping. What was most memorable were staff members at the front desk who went out of their way to be helpful in terms of converting cash, giving directions and advice. The hotel was very clean and comfortable.

Spent three days in budapest, 4-7 September in the art'otel. The hotel has a really modern buzzy feel. Wonderful lobby and the rooms are great - spacious and classy decor. The view across the Danube to Parliament & the Chain Bridge is superb. There is also a calm courtyard between the new & old parts of the hotel, great for a post sightseeing drink. Few downsides - breakfast is only average and drinks can be pricey. Avoid the German draft lager and settle for a (better!) local bottled beer instead. Overall though - a great place to stay in the calmer Buda side of the city

An Interesting Alternative

Good location. Very nice hotel, interesting decoration of modernist style. A good alternative to the more centrally located hotels at the Pest side. Stayed for 3 nightrs. Nice view from good size & clean rooms, very good breakfast, excellent restaurant. Garage parking. Staff friendly & helpful.

Modern comfort

Had an excellent three nights in the Artotel. This is a comfortable modern haven in a beautiful old city. The breakfasts are a must and in summer can be taken outside in the courtyard. We did not try the dinners but the menu looked good and prices were reasonable. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the river, the views of the Parliament Buildings and the Chain Bridge are spectacular. The hotel is in a very convenient position on the Buda side of the river, we intended to get a three day travel pass but found that we were able to see all the sights on foot easily. Reception staff speak english, which is helpful, in Budapest a few people speak good english but most none. The room was spotlessly clean, lovely bathroom lots of hot water and a comfortable bed with lovely crisp cotton sheets.

A real funky place

Having read the good reviews on tripadvisor, 5 of our family recently stayed at the artotel and found all the good comments to be true.All the mainly young staff were really helpful and the whole atmosphere was relaxed.
The rooms are very well appointed and the breakfast was excellent.I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Stylish Boutique Hotel

Comfortable, stylish boutique hotel done in an international modernist style. Good location on the Buda waterfront just below Castle Hill with ready access to Chain Bridge for an easy walk to central Pest. Very nice views across the river of the Parliament building and the Pest waterfront.

Great value

We chose this hotel due to a great rate from Expedia and a good review from tripadvisor. It was a fabulous value. The location, about 10 minute walk to the chain bridge or five minutes the other way to the subway as well as a great supermarket, was wonderful. The free buffet breakfast was plentiful and had a good selection, although I would have liked cappucino available. There was free internet,

The rooms had a lovely view and were spacoious and comfortable. A few caveats. The sheets had a few holes and there was some wear and tear of furniture and upholstery. We had to kill a lot of flying insects the first day, as they leave the windows open. After all, we are next to the river.The front staff were very busy and efficient but not very friendly. The shower ran cold and then no water at all from the hot water tap after only a few minutes. Not perfect for a 4 star hotel. Ignore these issues if you get a great price and really enjoy Budapest

I had the pleasure of staying at the Art'Otel in budapest for 3 nights in July. The previous week I had payed too much for 2 star hotels in Edinburgh and Dublin. What I payed for my room at the Art'Otel was comperable to my rooms in Edinburgh and Dublin and yet 2 more stars and a world of difference apart.
The hotel is new and well appointed. I travel a lot on business and felt that this hotel was right up there with some of the nicer hotels I have stayed at in the states. Our room was spacious with a view of the Danube. The breakfast buffet was lavish and estensive.
The hotel is on the Buda side of the city with most of the sites on the Pest side. This shouldn't be a problem with Pest easily accessible from the Chain Bridge. Besides, Buda is well worth exploring. Don't pass up Ruszwurm, one of the cities best pastry shops located on the Buda side. Believe me, it's well worth the hike up the hill! I can't wait to return to Budapest, and when I do I'll plan to stay at the Art'Otel.

Fantastic hotel

My daughter and I stayed here for three nights and loved it. The hotel is in the most perfect location - rooms either overlook the Danube or the old Buda with its castle. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly without being obtrusive. Best of all is the feeling of space. The interior design is very stylish and original and our room was huge. I would highly recommend it!

Stylish hotel on the more quiet side of Budapest

This was our first trip to Budapest, and we booked the hotel online, based on the earlier reviews of former hotel guests.
We have to admit that we were really not disappointed! This hotel is located directly on the Danube river, on the more 'quiet' side of Budapest - namely on the castle hill - the Buda side. The views across the Danube river are marvellous, and if you are not afraid of walking, you can reach Pest in about 10 - 15 minutes.
The rooms in the hotel are nicely furnished and decorated with artwork of Donald Sultan, staff is helpful and friendly, but usually remains in the background. This gives you the privacy you are looking for, in a nice hotel with a good price/service balance. We would certainly go there again!

Budapest has a magical quality that is perfectly reflected in the Art'otel.

Its position, views over the Danube and to the Gothic Parliament buildings, efficient, friendly service (that thankfully didn't sink into corporate obsequiousness) and ambience are simply perfect; the rooms also reflected the obvious care and concern over quality, and the air conditioning not only worked, but didn't keep us awake. (Mind you we were so knackered from our daily excursions that I'm not surprised!)

The free internet access, a great breakfast and incredibly easy tram access to the twin cities were simpy bonuses!

So we're saving our pennies and pounds for the next time!!

Top Local Tips for Budapest

Warning Watch out for taxi drivers - they really try to rip you off. One tried to change us HUF3350 for a 5 minute journey. Also watch out when getting change - someone passed by out of date Romanian Lei instead of a 10000 note!!

Stick to Pest! 3 nights is just too little-make it 4 and spend most of them in Pest, just away from the river, near 'Octagon'. The Cafe Negro is an undiscovered (and sophisticated) treat just up from the famous MOKA resteraunt. Much better too!

Forget cabs Take a tour arranged by the hotel to get your feet wet, then go by public transit anywhere. It is fabulous and safe night and day.
