Rudest Barstaff In The World!!!

I initially agreed to go on this holiday with my girlfriend of 5 years, as things were quite strained in our relationship and I thought a quiet holiday on the beautiful island of Zakynthos was just what we both needed, as I have had some amazing holidays there. When we arrived we were suprised by the lovely view, as we paid extra for a side sea view, it was worth it. The weather was great, although a little overcast at times, but probably to be expected for this time of year. This is a nice quiet place, where one can relax, however I was made to feel very unwelcome by one of the barmen, who was in a constant foul mood, probably due to the fact he was there for 14 or more hours a day and had his young child running around while he was working. Incidently, his wife could not have been more polite,always a goodmorning, or goodnight in the evening. On the very first day we arrived, we approached the bar at about 7 in the evening, which was empty, apart from one other couple sitting to our left. There were two different rows of bottles, one was the "all inclusive" row, (poor quality rubbish and weak spirits, basically the cheapest of the cheap!)the others you had to pay for. The barman approached me with a cigarette hanging from his lips and grunted "yes?" to which I said "hello". I said to my girlfriend "they have got Metaxa brandy". I explained to her that it was authentic greek brandy and that we should try it. I politely asked the barman, "what do you normally mix with it?" He responded (gritting his teeth) "You talk too much". He then said "you are not in England, you are in my country now". I was waiting for him to laugh, thinking he was joking, but he was deadly serious!! He blurted "you want this Brandy, you have to pay for it". I explained that Id pay for it as I wished to try it.The other couple at the bar laughed, then stopped when they realised he was not joking. I HAVE NEVER been so humiliated in my life and needless to say, this sullied my entire weeks stay, as there was only him and one younger barman who was sometimes there that could be approached. The rude barman also cleared plates in the restaurent, so to be fair there was no real way of avoiding him. I observed his behaviour throughout the week, he seemed to adore the Germans and Italians, so his behaviour was specific to me. I had no recourse to this, as there is no rep onsite, no one to complain to and speaking back to him would have just shown that I was bothered and I felt may have created an aggressive situation. The receptionist was amazingly polite and professional (probably why she works on reception!) and the room maids lovely. The food is bland and almost identicle everyday and our room had an electrical point hanging out of it's socket, which was potentially lethal. There is a grassed area for sunbathing, IT IS NOT A BEACH!!! The sheets were changed daily and it is about an extra 30 pounds if you wish to have air conditioning. My honest opinion of this place is that, I would never, ever go back. However, if you get a late deal, go there, if only for the views! Just dont expect good food,good bar service or a decent quality drink, because you wont get it! There is NO WAY that this is anywhere near what I'd expect a 4 star hotel to be.

Fully renovated!! Outstanding

Big surprise for us the hotel was fully renovated, new lobby, restaurant, bar furniture. New pool with fantastic views. Excellent food and helpfull staff. It could not have been better.

Great hotel, with a thrilling view. Book a sea view room and a car to explore the island. For a quiet holiday in a nice place

Great staff

Good staff, not enogh of them, good pool, nice veiws from seaveiw rooms. Food poor, bar closed at 11pm (at end of AI) no entertainment, Greek night OK food on Greek night #hit! Germans, Italians, etc pile up food from buffet and do not eat it, leaving nothing for others. Dinner 7-30 to 9-30 (cleared away by nine !!) There is NO beach.
