I would highly recommend going to Zante, Greece, the people are friendly, but unfortunately within the Hotel Caravel they were not. The bar staff were extremely rude, gave the impression that we were inconveniencing them by ordering drinks. They argued with members of our party about why were were ordering from the snack bar and not going into the restaurant. They cann't call this hotel all inclusive, it is part inclusive, the children's pool, which is a long the beach was OK but you have to pay for your drinks at that bar, so they cann't even say they cater for families. The sports activities kept on getting cancelled because they wanted their 2 hour breaks, so the children started to get bored, as there wasn't anything to do. The accommodation was OK. The food was average, but always seemed to be the same old thing day in day out. After our first week, we all decided to eat outside, as the people were so much more friendlier and the food was excellent. The hotel staff were not greek, they were albanian but told people they were greek, and their attitudes towards people staying there would give the greek's a bad name. So I therefore urge anyone who is thinking of going to this hotel, not to. You would be so much better off either going self catering, as the food outside is so cheap but excellent quality and the atmosphere is 100% better than in the Hotel Caravel. We had a few instances where there was so much water on the floor, someone was going to have an accident. We told the staff numerous times but they didn't bother to clear it up. Then my mum slipped on some water at 12 at night and injured her knee, and that was the last straw. I called the receptionist to sort this out, to which he just laughed and put a mat on top of the water. They have no consideration for your safety, there were quite a few more elderly people than my mum in that hotel that could have broke any bones or hips on this water. I urge anyone to please re-consider this hotel. It just isn't worth spoiling your holiday. We were also told by a Greek Tour Operator in Tsilivi that the Hotel Caravel have not been updated for over 10 years. There were so many complaints whilst we were out there, that the english tour operator just didn't know where to go.
