Me an 3 friends returned from Astir Palace about a week and a half ago. Due to the fact that we was 4 young girls looking for a lively holiday we was disappointed with our hotel. However the hotel had its good and bad points. The hotel is gorjus and if ur lucky lyk us to get a sea view u will be pleased with it. The hotel is immaculate we got fresh towels every day and r sheets changed evry 2. The rooms r gorjus plus the hotel its self is fab and is perfect if youre going there to RELAX. If you r half board in this hotel you are in for a treat because here you can lose a couple of pounds you wanted to lose before you went on holiday as you wont touch most of the food thats provided. you r not allowed to make noise after 10 o clock and have to take your shoes off wen you get in of a night or shud I say morning because the man on reception shouts if he hears the noise of your shoes. You will be mostly thrilled with the bar in the hotel because its absolutely boomin, not, throughout the whole holiday we seen 2 people in there. The air con has to be paid for and so does the fridge and the safe o and the sun lounges around the pool. We stayd around the pool twice throughout the whole 2 weeks as there is no atmosphere there an no 1 laffs. I suggest finding a bar calld Baywatch along the beach and sunbathing there its always got a good atmosphere. Its about a 15 minute walk 2 the main strip but u get use 2 it. Even thogh the hotel wasnt wot we was expecting we still had a amazing time and sumtimes was glad r hotel was quiet so we cud have a decent sleep, trust me you will need it if your doing 14 nights on the run. Zante is such a great place with great clubs and a great atmosphere we r cumming bak next year to work for the summer, unfortunately not to this hotel. My sister & I have just spent a great week in Laganas, enjoying some lovely weather. We stayed at The Hotel Astir Palace which was very nice but we are sorry to say one or two things stop us from giving it a rave review. Nearly all holiday residents were up in arms at the charge for sunbeds around the pool area. We did not pay as we found all the surrounding hotels welcome you with 'free' sunbeds, open for all. We had a week of varying our use of pool and hospitality - in turn of course our euro's were spent on drinks and snacks at other hotels and the 'Astir' remained relatively unused and lacking 'atmosphere'. In the evenings the place was empty, this could be due to being early in the season, but we never saw one drink served in the bar in 7 days! no entertainment or atmosphere to even try and draw in custom. They also wanted 16 euros for a key to the fridge (which was on and running the whole time anyway), we didn't bother. The owners are being very short-sighted as they could provide these things 'free of charge' for residents at least and take more money for refreshments, making holidaymakers feel welcome instead of such an open sorce of money grabbing. Laganas 5 star - Hotel Astir 3 star.
