The price is very good, the location is easy to find and with a very nice view, the staff is very helpful. My stay there was fantastic. It was the second time a stayed at this hotel and now I plan to go every other weekend.

My husband and myself have stayed at Emerald on several occasions and rate the hospitality of the host very highly indeed, that is why we keep returning each year. The rooms are basic but the views, local people and relaxing atmosphere is heavenly. It is not a lively place and is perfect for chilling out. More suitable for couples, singles or those with very young children. The beach is clean and safe. We adore the place and enjoy the tranquility.

Top Local Tips for Thassos

Vigli's If you stay in Golden Beach, you must try Vigli's for an evening meal! Gorgeous food, and lovely people!

Hiring a rental car to go round Thassos As with the previous review, we recommend hiring a car in the resort with Potos car rental. They charged us 64 euros for 2 days, compared to 95 euros with Europcar (linked to Thomsons). Driving round the west side of Thassos is best - more or less straight roads. Driving round the east side is not so easy - steep winding roads (it doesn't look so far on the map, but takes much longer because of the geography). There are many viewpoints to see panoramic views - the sunsets on the south and west of Thassos are the best you will see on any Greek island!

WASPS!!!!! the island is swarming in wasps, when you are exsuasted from the heat the last thing you want to be doing is batting lots of wasps away! we found ourselves having to move inside when eating in restaurants as your plate soon becomes engulfed with the flying beasts!!!!
