George, his mother, Anna and all the cleaning staff were so friendly and extremely helpful, we had such a wonderful relaxing holdiay, we can't wait to return next year.

We have just returned from 2 weeks holiday in Thassos.We stayed at the Socrates Plaza in Skala Prinou.This was our second visit to Thassos.We stayed at the Socrates same time last year.George the owner is very helpful and friendly.Arti the barman is great fun also very friendly and helpful.The rooms are spotless,the daily maid service is excellent.
Best places we found to eat were The Nest(hello to Nickos,mom and dad)and Zorbas(hello to Kostos and Ellie).Nickos speaks excellent English(he knows all the different accents)and is a very good dancer.
The local bus service is excellent and inexpensive,it's just 1 euro 80 cents into Thassos town.
The market in Prinou on Mondays is worth a visit.
On Saturdays there is a big market in Kavala which you travel over to by the Dolphin or the ferry.
The Socrates is situated in an idyllic spot,right on the beach with a fantastic view.The rear of the hotel overlooks the mountains with various species of birds to be seen.
The transfer from Kavala airport to your hotel in Thassos is stress free.Your luggage is taken from you at airport and the next time you see it is at your hotel.Don't know if this is just a service Thomson provide or if all tour operators do the same.
An excellent holiday was had again thanks to all at Socrates and Thomson.

George made us welcome from day one. It's a place if you want to completely chill out. The nest restaurant is super great service from a young Greek waitor. Classico bar opposite the ferry port is a great place to have a beer or two. George the owner is a real gent. I fully recommend this resort.

Our first experience of Thassos and Socrates was the year that Greece won the Euro Cup, we arrived on the Sunday of the cup final. What a great time we had, even painted our faces with the Greek flag colours. Made some good friends. Returned the next year for 2 weeks again had a brilliant time, George and his family and staff make you feel so welcome. Sadly had to miss the next year out but returned again last year and this time our daughter and her partner and our granddaughter joined us, again couldn't have asked for more. Can't wait to go back for a 4th time for a great relaxing holiday where you always get a warm welcome from George and co!

Perfect place for a get-away-from-it-all break. Owners and staff were friendly but not "in your face". Rooms were basic but comfortable with everything we needed. In fact we enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back again in June for two weeks - can't wait!

Have been going to Prinos now for 30 years. Have introduced it to many people who return there every year. We call it our 2nd home because it is a beautiful place. Have made many friends there they are all so welcoming. George came over to the UK and we went to meet him for a drink in Bramhall, Stockport. He is an amazing guy. So is arty. we were fortunate to meet his father who has now sadly died. Hope to keep on returning to this place forever.

George and Arti were very welcoming. They took us to all the local bars, got us drunk and Artie tried to finger my anus. George's dungeon was a real eye opener. We feel particularly honoured to see what he usually hides from his other guests. (Its hidden under the 5 a side football pitch!)
Arti has much culture to share from his homeland and will happily bluetooth it to you.
We didnt quite make it to our plane in time, so we ended up walking back to England and we just got back.

Just had a short visit (1 week) and wish to heck we had booked for longer. This hotel is up there with the best and I agree that it should be rated more than 2 stars. Spotless, trendy, tasteful, comfortable, staff are brilliant - led very well by George, Arti and George's mum. Nothing is a problem! Location: superb! An absolutely HUGE chill pill! Don't believe the negative feedback on Skala Prinos on one of the sites that says you should carry on straight through there. OK, it's small and quiet - but brilliant bus service - 10 mins from Thassos town, great ferry service to Kavala (mainland) - cost us about £2 on the Ferry for 1.5 hour sailing - it was so good I am now starting to ramble - go and see for yourself! We WILL be back - just booked for Easter.

Stayed for two weeks, Arti and George are fantastic. The hotel was very clean.
Food around the resort was brilliant, 'The Nest' was truley brilliant and very cheap. Cant wait to go back to Socrates again soon.

Well what can I say! My holiday was brilliant! The hotel is really underrated it shouldn't be a 2 star hotel more like a 4* hotel! It was 1 of the best hotels on the island and I went around it 3 times! The food and drink was great! Very family atmospheric! Suits all types of families! The hotel owner George really looks after and has a laugh with all the guests and the staff are all really friendly!! The rooms were cleaned near enough daily and over 80% of guests go back and I certainly will be!!
